Heard this. A lot of the kids I know going for UNI are pretty damn upset.

Even though I'll just be a freshmen in UNI this fall, I'm upset and surprised. What they are proposing seems a bit...generic. UNI was the reason I chose BU over U of Mich and WashU- is a simple honors program going to stand out to a student who's choosing between similar options? Doubtful. What they need is to clarify the program and promote it a bit more, in my opinion.

I love BU, but over UMich? Ouch.

I chose BU over Northwestern and UVA for one reason -- UNI. While offered merit money, I can say without a doubt that UNI and the opportunities it offered made my decision for me. Considering the administration isn't even planning this "university-wide honors program" until September (according to one of the BU Today articles), the lack of answers to the many vital questions the incoming UNI class - apparently the last ever - has made me question my decision. Publicity for UNI has always been nonexistent (I got lucky and discovered it on the scroll down menu of the application); so I think it's telling of the leadership that instead of working to fix that problem and improving the school further, the university ends an established program for a vague idea. It should also be noted that the strategic plan from which this decision was based was released May 2, the day after our deposits had to be received -- in other words, the administration knew what was in the works and didn't tell us until now (when its too late to make a difference).

Wow. Over UVA? I love the Terrier pride and all, but my two dream schools. Props for doin that.

I was surprised by the announcement. UNI is a special program - which is why, loslobos, that people choose it - but BU must be interested in building the overall reputation and real quality of the school. Almost no one knows about UNI, which is a great pity.

heh the May 2nd release is interesting...
