Boco does not accept walk ins. Each school is different. Check their websites or make a phone call to the schools you are interested in. Good Luck.

I know that several schools ( Ithaca and Webster , specifically, and I am sure others) already have long wait lists for Chicago Unifieds for all 3 days.
Almost every school we have talked with has told my S and myself that the number of applicants this year has been record breaking! Some schools have added extra on campus audition days to try and accommodate the kids.

Re: BOCO. We were told the BOCO audition spots at NY unifieds were full last year by the time my S had submitted his application - and there was no wait list. It was frustrating because he was not able to audition in Boston, so the whole application process (which was not simple) would have been in vain. So - we went early to the audition anyway and it ended up being no big deal at all - they just fit him in (and he was accepted). Good thing to be persistent (if you have the time!).

Audition times and places are flexible ONLY if you previously applied. The important difference is that you must have “already applied” to the school by the appropriate deadline. The school does not accept walk ups otherwise.

Note to all:

New York Unifieds dance auditions at AMA are held on a flat commercial carpet.

Absolutely beenthereMTdad. Just wanted to mention it for those that might be in the same spot as my S - application done but no audition spots left. You can’t see the audition availablity until AFTER you submit your application, so you’re in a tough spot if you can only make one of the audition cities.

How do I find the dates for 2012 since people said to book hotels early

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/musical-theater-major/853251-unified-audition-dates-2011-through-2013-a.html

Just a tip for folks who reserve rooms early for Chicago Unifieds. I booked our room for the Feb. 2011 Unifieds at the Palmer House last August 2010. It was a regular room with a king bed (this was the cheapest available at the time under the “group discounted” rate for Unifieds) on a regular floor with no extras included. Pre-payment was not necessary, and the reservation could be cancelled and fully refunded at any time.

Then on Jan. 11, 2011, for some reason I was on the Palmer House website, and they were offering double bed rooms including breakfast, for $10 less than my “group discount” reservation; however, the reservation had to be prepaid and was non-refundable. But I didn’t change my original reservation, and I was glad because the next day, I was on Expedia looking for something unrelated. Out of curiousity, I searched their rates for the Palmer House. Low and behold, their rate for a room with two doubles on the executive floor, including free breakfast, soft drinks and snacks all day and hors d’oeuvres in the evening was $40 less than the rate of my original reservation. However, the room had to be paid in full upon reservation and was non-refundable. Needless to say, I cancelled my original reservation and booked our room through Expedia. It was soooooo nice being on the executive floor! So if you reserve your room early for next year, it’s worth checking the rates later on, just to see if there is a price cut.

thanks for the hint…

Out of curiosity why are there 3 days of Unifieds at Chicago and less at all the others? Do the same schools go to all of them?

Geography. Central location that draws the most amount of auditioning students.

Not every school goes to every city for Unifieds. You will really have to be careful with the details. Some schools come a few days early (CMU for one). UMich sends acting folks to the NY Unifieds and MT folks to Chicago Unifieds. I think Coastal Carolina went to Chicago but not NYC. Some New York City schools have campus auditions during the NY Unifieds time period, but not all. Some east coast colleges have campus auditions during NYC Unifieds, which I found very disturbing. (Colleges, if you are a few hours drive from NYC, don’t have your campus auditions the same weekend as Unifieds! Thank-you. I feel better now.)

My University would like to participate.
But there is no record on the site on who runs the auditions or the site.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Contact Dr. John who posts here - he can point you in the right direction!

Since the Unifieds isn’t really an official organization, there are no guidelines or really any structure. Participation as an “official” school is a bit nebulous (from my experience.) But schools have been added. Good luck.

Pace University’s Performing Arts department will be holding auditions for all majors in Los Angeles on Saturday, February 11, 10:00AM-6:00PM and Sunday, February 12, 10:00AM-6:00PM! For more information or to sign up for auditions, please email pwoodward@pace.edu

It seems this might be a nice place for schools to post that they will be near one of the official unified audition sites. Might be helpful for students to know that.
