Sporti...my email is cat190@psu.edu if you want to email me!

Thank you Lynnm - We are going to the Chicago Unifieds - If you or anyone else has more thoughts to share, please don't hesitate. The anxiety is starting to build!

abbysmom - we'll be at Chicago Unifieds, but we live in the Chicago area. My daughter has two auditions on Monday, two on Tuesday, and one Wednesday. Then she has an audition for a summer production at Steppenwolf on Thursday afternoon (she has no school on Friday, so she basically won't be in school all next week - should be interesting). However, since her first audition Monday is early, we are staying at the Palmer House Sunday night.

A word of warning to anyone attending Chicago Unifieds, if you haven't already realized it - Sunday night is the Super Bowl - if Chicago wins, you might want to stay inside your hotel room Sunday night! We're not Bears fans, so I'm so not looking forward to Sunday night in the city.

Also, if you're flying in/out of O'Hare whenever they return (I'm guessing Monday), expect it to be even more of a mess. I remember a little over a year ago when we flew out of Midway the day the Sox returned from Houston after winning the World Series - the traffic was a nightmare with fans arriving to greet the team.

I just wanted to wish everyone best of luck auditioning at the unifieds! For some reason I am picturing mass chaos in my head but I am hoping I'm wrong! Hopefully it will be a wonderful experience just like all the ones we have had before. I hope the same for everyone else auditioning too!!!!!

And of course good luck to everyone else who still has to audition at a unified or not! I hope everyone gets the school they most desire!

tashmu, we'll be bringing my D directly from a school rehearsal to NYC for auditions on Saturday and Sunday. It's a crazy schedule, but it's helping to keep her mind off being nervous. Good Luck to your D!

lynnm, thanks much for sharing the details about the NYC Unifieds. The more we know, the better.

psucat, My D will look for you at Penn State!
I hope everyone at Unifieds has a wonderful time with great results - Good Luck!

Beware of Chicago Unifieds Part II
Just want to make sure everyone is aware of the frigid forecast for Chicago on Sunday and Monday. High temperature of 4 degrees, low of -8 with wind chills in the -20 to -30 range. I especially am concerned for Kaylagurl coming from Barbados! Talk about extremes! Make sure to bring your scarf, hat and gloves. I know many are staying right at the Palmer House which will be very convenient but hope you get the opportunity to bundle up and venture out to at least Millenium Park, a short 2-block walk. Best of luck to all.

Carole

Oh my gosh, thanks carole...im acutally more nervous about the weather than i am about my auditions...im kind of worried how i will react to such low temperatures, i experience 80/90 all year round :-(...im really hoping i dont get sick..or anything, but thanks so much for the warning...i do have my hat, gloves, scarf, boots, about 6 sweaters, long coat jacket...lol....but im still so worried...ahh...im not leaving that hotel..lol

thanks again carole :-)

Kayla, honeypie, you will be fine. Just make absolutely sure you bring a heavy coat, sweater, gloves and hat, and leave your hotel in plenty of time to arrive, thaw out and warm up, in more ways than one! I would love to live in a place where it's 80 degrees all year. The older I get, the more I cannot stand the cold.

HARTT UNIFIEDS:

There is no dance audition, though it says there is on the website. They are updating it soon. Look in the Hartt thread from more detailed info about callbacks, etc.

Best of luck to those going to NYC Unifieds this weekend!

To everyone heading to all the Unified auditions over the next 10 days. Have a great time, breathe, and remember to RELAX.

Enjoy the moments (you too, moms and dads!!!) :)

I am having a slight panic attack. In order to schedule an audition at Point Park University, one must fill out their theatre questionnaire, and turn it in for their preferred date. I did all of this, but I had to schedule my other auditions as well. As it turns out, Point Park scheduled my audition at 1:35 which overlaps with my Ithaca audition. I have tried calling the office of admissions as well as the conservatory of performing arts, but have had to leave a message at both, and no one has returned my call. What should I do in this situation? Auditions are coming up FAST!

Our S. has an appt. for Miami at Unifieds but while all the others are being held at the Palmer House, this is being held up by Fort Sheridan, an hour from downtown Chicago, so it's good to check!

Thanks Teriwtt! Good Advice!

Bye everybody, we're finally off to Unifieds! My D's been preparing for this for a long time, but now, it's all up to her... and the schools.
Heartfelt thanks to everyone who has shared info and advice here to make this process easier - I can't imagine doing it without you!

Break a leg to everyone who is auditioning! I wish I had some great advice for you after seeing my daughter go through it last year. The only thing I can tell you is that for girls, in addition to your music and all, don't forget your makeup . . . as my daughter did last year (and Elliottsmom was so kind to go buy it for her!). Oh, yes, and I can't stress enough about having an energy bar or something like that. Although her stomach was a little too nervous to eat a meal, she really did need a little pick-me-up in the afternoon.

One last thought as we run to the airport -
For everyone auditioning over the weekend, we wish you safe travel and great auditions that you are satisfied with! Break a leg!

everyone dress warmly, it supposed to go down to -10 this weekend, with the coldest front they've had in years. joy, dry weather

Best wishes to all for safe travels and successful auditions! We in CA have to wait until next weekend..........
:)
