bump for to the stage - I think you'll find a lot of discussion here!

I merged "To the Stage" 's query with the ongoing thread on this topic.

To the Stage....if you read the entire thread, you should glean quite a bit of information on this topic.

Good luck.

No , they are not all in one room. You make audition appointments through the individual schools and perform your auditions for the school separately in different rooms/locations/times.

thanks so much you all!
I felt like an idiot after the thread was bumped, whoops

the fact that they're by appointment and in separate rooms really puts me more at ease because I thought they were in one room...and then...if I blew it it ...wouldn't be so hot.

thanks!

Aside from application fees to individual schools are there any fees associated with the Unifieds?

Not in NY and probably not anywhere else if it's the same organization.

Some schools charge fees for auditioning on top of the regular admission application fee. Off the top of my head I can think of Webster and Hartt. There is no fee to audition at the Unifieds, however. My D auditioned for Webster at the Unifieds as a walk in. She later applied to the school and they, then requested the additional audition fee.

See this thread for a lengthier discussion:

audition fee at USC, $35

Great, thanks! I wasn't sure if there was some kind of registration fee or something.

My D is doing the LA unifieds. I thought I read somewhere that they were spread over two days. Am I mistaken? She is scheduled with Emerson at 9 a.m. and they said in their email to expect the process to take about 4 hours. I need to schedule her for Ithaca and Otterbein too. I love the fact that you get lots of time to get information and everything, but I am concerned about fitting in 3 auditions in one day. I will call the other schools tomorrow, but does anyone know if the auditions are two days long so I could request one of the auditions to be on the following day? How many auditions can a person realistically fit into one day? Thanks for any info you can provide.

I have LA UNIFIEDS as being on Feb 12 only. San Francisco Feb 11, NY Feb 4-5, Chicago Feb 6-8

Yes, a musical theatre audition can take 4-6 hours, although not always. Straight theatre is much shorter, of course.

I think you will find the colleges to be very accomodating if you call and explain the situation. Sometimes the first hour is information only and the parent could attend that and just take notes, if need be. Or they could schedule you first so that you can go on to the next. You would probably be hard pressed to handle more than three auditions in a day.

Good luck,

Is anyone scheduled to go to the Unifeds in NY Feb. 4-5? We'll be there...from Texas...this is such a new process!

Is there some sort of group rate or code you can use for making a reservation at the Unified auditions in Chicago?

If you mean the Palmer House Hilton Hotel, yes.

Just tell them you are there for UNIFIEDS and they will discount your room. I think rooms ours are under $130

xxx,Mary Anna

Thanks, I called there on Friday and the used Unifeids and the girl had no clue. However, I kept pressing it and she came up with a group rate for United Regional Theatre Association at $125. I told her that sounded like it and so we booked it, but I really had to work to get to that point.

I thought others may have the same problem.

FYI to people interested in out of town auditions. Some schools that do not participate in the Unifieds DO have off campus auditions around the country. Foir example, Syracuse. Check with the schools; don't assume that you must do an on campus.

I called Palmer House in Chicago today, where we already had a reservation, and they found a group rate for the Theatre block at $137 a night. I told them that I heard someone else got $125, but they wanted to know the other person's name to look up the reservation. If you got the $125 and don't mind sharing, please write me an e-mail (not a PM - they are almost full). I took the $137 because it was much better than the previously quoted rate. Thanks for the info!

If you find that there are continuing schedule conflicts, you may want to consider doing a few auditions at the Las Vegas Unifieds. As I recall there were several days between the two dates and you could fly or drive from Las Vegas to LA.

I am unsure about whether or not Las Vegas is holding Unified auditions since it is not on the 2006 website. Can anyone confirm this?
