Unified Auditions

Ithaca also wants a CD, but do they need to be the same songs sung at the audition? I have a CD with 2 overdone songs on it, and I'm recording the backings for the other audition songs...I just really don't want to have to spend that much more time in the studio...my parents are spending enough on all ofthis..... do you guys think it's okay to give the tape with overdone songs or do they dfeinitely want the audition songs you're doing?

On your accompaniment recordings for unified.......how good do they need to be. I understand that you want the best you can get. But, how far are you guys going to get that done? Are you having someone play it while you just record it with a tape player or having it done in a professional studio, or somewhere in between?

I have the same question about quality for accompaniment, and add one about Ithaca's vocal potion they want on tape. Do people just make an at home handheld tape of themselves? Or is this the make the best product you can pay for, and go to a recording studio and make your recording there sort of thing?

I'm taking an accompanist to a recording studio because I don't think it would sound too great if I recorded it on my comp....but I think you COULD tape it at home-just make sure it sounds good enough...

I can't change it now, but I'm wondering if you all think that auditions end very very close to the time they say they are going to end (like 9-12 would end at 12/12:10)? I have 2 auditions per day in Chicago and on the 7th and the 8th there are one hour apart....wondering if you all think this will work out...

My d auditioned at the first November round and they were very far behind. Her audition time was later in the day. I don't think this is a normal but it just worked out that way for her.

ToTheStage,

You must contact each program separately and find out. Sometimes this 9-12 slot is for the morning group. Then, as the auditionees arrive there is a sign up sheet and the adjudicators go in order. Every school handles it differently. However, in any cirumstance I think an hour per audition might be cutting it too close. See what you can do.

Any ccers going to the LA unifieds? My D has three auditions that day.

I'll be in LA, auditioning for Hartt and Ithaca. What auditions will your D be doing?

Hi- Emerson and Ithaca, somehow in the same timeframe of 9-12, and then Otterbein at 2. Not sure how the Ithaca/ Emerson thing will work out, except we signed up really late for Ithaca so she should be near the end of their list. What time is your Ithaca appt?

I know someone who's auditioning for Hartt in LA

Mine is from 12-3. I have Hartt at 10:41.

I'll be doing Emerson in San Francisco on the 11th from 9-12, though, and then flying down to LA and staying in the Hilton. Is anyone else doing San Francisco?

So who will be at the NYC Unifieds this weekend?

We have a good friend going. He's very talented, but does NOT have great grades.

we will be at ny this weekend.

I live in SF and I'm doing SF but only for a couple schools I couldn't fit in lol

Razorback, I don't think you would necessarily need a professioal recording. The pianist for my school choir will be playing my songs for my recording, and my band teacher is recording us with his equipment on Friday after school.

do you guys think it's okay to send Ithaca a tape after? I sort of...don't have a tape with my audition songs on it...

ToTheStage...that is the sort of question you need to ask directly to the school. Don't rely on opinions here.

I just want to wish everyone the ultimate success this weekend and next week as so many kids travel to unifieds. I pray for safe travel and healthy voices and calm spirits. Know that you have talent and that no panel of judges can determine that or take that from you. I plan to wear a burgundy velour "jog-type" outfit on Saturday. D is 4'11" with long brown hair and huge brown eyes. Please say hello if you see us.
