When you do walk-ins, is this in one building? How is it done physically? Thanks.

As I recall, they are primarily at the Pearl Studios, but there were a smaller number at one other building- someone help me here :-). It’s like a scene out of Fame. Very exciting. Very noisy! everyone is doing vocal warm-ups, stretching, silently rehearsing monologues, etc. there are benches outside the room for parents to wait and a large room with chairs as well. Bring something to keep you busy. Lots of nice parents to meet from around the country. Everyone is crammed in tight- no privacy. Don’t probe for details- you can debrief later unless your child is exuberant and wants to talk immediately. Most will come out very happy-the auditors are quite supportive, but kids often need time to process and get ready to move on to the next room. There are a gazillion small to medium practice rooms throughout one of the floors. Outside every room is a table and sign indicating which school it is. You sign in and if you would like to request a walk-in, you would also let them know there. Many, or most, are staffed by current students. Some will have admin staff there, so stay positive. Don’t be put off if the person at the table doesn’t seem the friendliest-most really are, and everyone is generally very happy, upbeat, welcoming and glad you’re there. but, sometimes it’s a student who’s stressed or overwhelmed. Some folks complained about this last year. One school in particular but can’t recall which one Ignore it and keep smiling.

My son enjoyed Unifieds, he did both scheduled and walk in auditions. Don’t forget a check book as some schools require that for walk ins.

lightingmom, is the other building Ripley-Grier?
