Unified walk ins?

Hey, does Penn State allow walk ins at the NY Unified Auditions?

Hi, Cory:

I’ll answer this here in this forum but the same answer will apply for all the schools for which you asked this question.

I think you will need to contact each school directly and ask if they allow walk ins. But be aware that even if a school makes it a policy to “allow” walk-ins, there may not be any available slots on the day or location you are there.

I think leaving it to chance is really risky. If possible you really should schedule audition appointments for the schools you are most interested in, and leave the walk-in chances for schools that happen to catch your eye once you’re there. That way you are sure to be seen by your favorite schools.

PSU does allow walk-ins, if there is time. However, there is no guarantee that they will be able to fit you in or that there will be openings. My D was a walk-in for the 2010 auditions, and was accepted to the program and is now attending. She had already submitted her applications to other schools, when she talked to a friend who was in the PSU program and loved it. My D found out more about the program and was really kicking herself for not applying. She showed up at the PSU audition room very early the 1st morning of Unifieds-even before Staff arrived. When they arrived and she asked about doing a walk-in, they ended up taking her right in as they said they were pretty much full the rest of the day. When she finished singing, they talked to her for a few minutes and did ask why she had not applied earlier. She was very impressed with the program and the auditioners and came home and applied to the program the next day. This was at the LA Unifieds, but I think they would take walk-ins anywhere as long as they have room. That being said, there are even more people auditioning now then there were 2 years ago. I would not count on any walk-in appt. being available anywhere. If you are really interested in the school, I would call their office and see if there is any way they can still work you in. Good luck!
