Unifieds 2010

Does anyone know where to access a complete list of schools attending Unifieds?

Also, does anyone know if FSU or OKCU will be at Unifieds, or if I will have to fly to their school in order to audition?

Thanks!

I went to that website, saw the dates, but couldn’t figure out how to sign up for D. What am I not doing???

You sign up through the schools when you apply.

How much time, realistically, should one allow for an audition? Some of the schools say to allow at least 4 hours, which seems a bit silly when the audition is unlikely to last anywhere near that long. Even with delays. My daughter hopes to do most of her auditions at the Chicago Unified, and 4 hours each would make it close to impossible. Any thoughts?

I believe the schools that ask you to set aside 4 hours are the schools that included some sort of group audition/ warm-up as part of the audition. Those who have attended Unifieds in the past can chime in more specifically, but if a school is asking you to set aside that much time it is likely that the audition will be more than a 20 minute audition/ interview. There are quite a few threads about Unifieds here and on the MT Forum. If I am remembering correctly I think it is difficult to impossible to do more than about 4 auditions in 1 day?

Thanks, KatMT. 3 or 4 would probably cover all o them that she wants to do.

This list dates originally from 2005, and there’s no guarantee that all the same schools will be in Chicago in February of 2010, but it is a place to start your research. Please also note that the Unified group has expanded in the last five years. Theater mom posted the link above.

Oklahoma City and Florida State do not typically hold auditions at the Unifieds.

Hope to see you there.

Ithaca was the only school that required a four hour block at LA Unifieds (among the schools my D selected for audition). However, it didn’t take any where near that long for her. They did have a group orientation/information session at the beginning, then they started the individual auditions. For Ithaca, the auditions were in the order you scheduled an audition with them. Because we scheduled very early, my D was second on the list and we were done very quickly. Others then waited for their turn. They did give a general sense of timing for the later auditions so some kids did some walk in auditions during their wait if they were toward the end of the four hour block.

FYI - My D did 6 auditions in one day at LA Unifieds (five scheduled, one walk in). Two MT, four Acting. She then auditioned for CMU and Purchase the next day (they were holding auditions the same weekend but in a different hotel). It was very manageable, but possibly because only two were MT, and neither had dance auditions.
