In terns of on campus interviews, I am thinking that one trip to NYC could include Marymount, LIU, Wanger and Ithaca. Should I keep Ithaca at Unifieds to avoid having to leave the city? I think this will be the only trip we can make to audition on campus besides the ones we can do in Chicago before/during Unifieds.

Ithaca is a good 4-5 hours from NYC. It’s a gorgeous campus – well worth seeing. But it’s not near the city.

@evilqueen - when you say on campus interviews do you mean visits or auditions?
If you mean auditions, you can try to plan like that but schools only have certain dates for on campus auditions and they may not work together for 3 schools at once like that.

@evilqueen Wagner only has the one audition weekend, on campus usually first weekend of March.

@austinmt, I spent a lot of time trying to figure that out on the Wagner website so thank you! It also looks like they don’t go to Unifieds. I am starting to put all of this into a spreadsheet where I can compare the schools and see if I can find any way to combine on campus auditions/interviews in NYC. Wagner doesn’t make is easy at all :(

Last year we combined Wagner with the Muhlenberg scholarship audition and visiting Rider (she had an early acceptance to there, so we met with professors, had a student tour and saw a show). You can do Allentown, Lawrence, NJ and Staten Island all from Newark airport without going in to Manhattan, so it was pretty easy (we rented a car). (We had done the NYC visit earlier in the year) We saw Wagner do Rent the night before the audition day.

The other thing a little different about Wagner is that you apply to the school first, then in early December (I believe) they invite you to audition if you are accepted academically. Then you go on their website and sign up for morning or afternoon on Saturday or Sunday of the audition weekend. Good merit aid from them (and from Rider and Muhlenberg, too).

Montclair is a 24 minute bus ride to Manhattan, and a fabulous BFA MT conservatory-style program. They have on-campus auditions and go to Unifieds also.

@austinmt, Montclair is at the top of our list from everything I have read. I started a huge spreadsheet to compare head to head and Montclair is really looking good.

I’m anxiously awaiting the announcement of the 2015 dates! Does anyone know when they’ll be announced?

I believe that they have posted the dates for 2015:

january 24 & 25
in New York

february 2, 3, & 4
in Chicago

february 5
in Las Vegas

february 7 & 8
in Los Angeles

http://www.unifiedauditions.com/

I think those are the dates for 2014. If you go to the website and click on “locations” those dates are shown as occurring in 2014.

The home page differs from the “location” page. The home page dates were not the dates for 2014 and they line up with 2015 days and dates, however, it could be wrong. The "locations’ page days and dates are correct for 2014.

The home page dates seem to be for 2015, they are the same as a few schools that have updated their dates foe 2015.

Yes, my D and I are planning to go to Unifieds in NYC in 2015. I hope to book the hotel as soon as we find out the date. She will audition for UArts, Syr U, Hartford, Rider, Elon, Emerson, NYU, Roosevelt, Cornish, Viterbo, Catholic and maybe a few others. And you?

Shenandoah will be holding auditions in NYC during Unifieds. Will post exact location once it is confirmed.

~VT

@VoiceTeacher - how about Chicago? Btw- my D’s voice teacher will be (or maybe is already?) at Shenandoah this summer for a voice teacher workshop?

@VoiceTeacher ^^^ Ditto! Come to Chicago!

Eek. Just booked the room for Unifieds. This is getting real, folks. Still hoping for a better room rate as we get closer…

@MTmom2015 look forward to meeting you at Unifieds. We are going to be there for almost a week!!

I booked the New Yorker Hotel for 1/23-1/26. Looking forward to hopefully connecting with everyone!
