Unifieds 2015

We will only be in Chicago, we will miss meeting all of you at NY and/or LA Unifieds.

Me, too @evilqueen! We made some new friends (parents of rising seniors) at TPAP this past weekend as well. It is good to have ‘people’, I think!

Yes! You all will need people, otherwise it gets real lonely but having someone that understands the process!

We have also booked a room at the Palmer House for Unifieds. We’re not going to any other unifieds because D has chosen 6(!) schools that only have on campus auditions. Not sure how we’re going to manage schedules or expenses, but onwards and upwards, looking forward to meeting some of you in Chicago

Just a reminder, if you are planning to audition for CCPA/Roosevelt at Chicago Unifieds, the dance call is February 1st, the day before the official start of Unifieds.

Someone said that Chicago hosts the most number of schools. I can’t seem to find information on which schools will be attending which location. We are in L.A. and thought it would be the same everywhere. If there are more in Chicago, id love to know which schools will be there that wont be here. Thanks!

There really isn’t a ‘list’ per we. Check the websites of the schools you’re interested in. Their audition locations should be listed.

@rittlette - its not the same everywhere. There are schools that are not “official” members of Unifieds that hold auditions at or near the Unifieds hotel that may only make it to some of the locations. Chicago does have the most schools in attendance. As noted by MTmom2015, you have to check the schools that you are interested in individually to see where they are going to be.

My mom just booked our room at the Palmer House for Chicago Unifieds this morning! I’m not sure if this is already common knowledge, but the hotel does have a block of rooms for Unifieds. We asked if there was a special rate for students coming for the Unified auditions and they said they had blocked off a number of rooms for them. I believe they are 2 bed 2 bath rooms, I can’t remember the rate exactly because we ended up using our Hilton membership rate, but I believe it was slightly discounted from what the normal rate is. Just thought I’d let you all know, although I’m probably an idiot and you are all already aware of this. But if you are planning on booking the Palmer House make sure you do it soon, I was making a budget estimate for audition travelling to show my parents and when I checked Expedia for flight/hotel packages for the Palmer House, there were already sold out (for Toronto to Chicago flights anyway). That’s why we booked it this morning. But now that it’s booked, the excitement and nerves are already starting to kick in. Hope to see some of you there!

Also for booking rooms - Southwest has great flight/hotel deals for Palmer House.

Fabulous, @roro101! it’s very exciting…and also terrifying at the same time! :)

Looking forward to meeting you all in Chicago!

Shenandoah University will be holding auditions for music theatre, acting, and theatre tech during Unifieds in NYC. I’ll post details when available.

VT

What the heck has happened to the Unifieds web page? I’ve tried for several days and POOF … it’s missing.

If anyone finds out what happened to the website, pass word please! :)

I remember the site disappearing last year this time. It was quite a while before it came back up. Honestly, I don’t think the site is chockful of information. You can check the audition locations of the individual schools when that information is available (hopefully soon).

^Agree with GSOMT that the individual school sites had the information I used, not the Unifieds site.

Since we’re so close to Chgo (an hour away) I had planned on using the Unified site to work backwards so to speak. To see what schools were there and then go back to each school’s individual site to find out audition information as well as school info.

Hoping it comes back up soon!

@KaMaMom‌ - the unified site will only list schools that are part of the official Unified group - but there are many, many more schools who are in Chicago and even at the Palmer House during the same timeframe. These schools will not be mentioned on the official site. It really is best to check with individual schools in which you are interested to see if they will be in Chicago auditioning during the time of Unifieds. If you only use the list on the Unified website you will be missing out on many, many schools. I know it doesn’t make much sense. But that really is the case. And know each school has its own process for applications, scheduling auditions and how their audition is run. The one thing we learned was there rally wasn’t much “unified” about Unifieds. But it is nice they were all in one city the same week
If you search on CC you may be able to find where someone posted a list of which schools were in Chicago during Unifieds in previous years.

When the D was going BFA I had our list in a spreadsheet.
For sure these schools will be in Chicago during Unifieds according to their websites:
Pace
Montclair
Roosevelt (in Chicago, dance call on Sunday)
BoCo
U. Arts
Ithaca
Rider
CMU
Ball State
