Is there a difference in where you attend the Unified auditions? My D is interested in acting rather than Musical theater. Is NY or Chicago preferable for acting - or does it matter?

I have also heard that adjunct schools attend the Unifeds. How do you get a listing of other schools that are not Unified member schools that will be attending? Do you need to make audition appointments or is it a walk-up situation?

You will need to check on each school as to policies regarding if they do auditions by appointment only or if they will take walk-ups. Chicago Unifieds seem to have the greatest number of the “non official Unifieds schools” so that may be a consideration for you when looking at which location to attend.

Another advantage to Chicago Unifieds is length. Chicago is three full days. I believe NY is two. Disadvantage -a few schools do not attend Chicago (NYU was not in Chicago last year). When we were in Chicago last year, Unifieds were held at the Palmer Hilton but the Hyatt which was a 5 minute walk had many non-Unified schools and walk-ins (Boston University, UNCSA,SUNY Purchase for example).

Chicago is best if you can make the trip. There is more time there, but I do know that some people like to go to NY and Chi town.

From some of my classmates who went to NY, I heard that only one or two auditors were in some of the rooms whereas for the same schools in Chi I regularly had 3-6 people watching me. Also, living the floor above where your auditions are held was rather handy.
