Unintended Consequences of a USC Education

After three years at SC my son has turned into a football fan. Who would have thought? This from a kid who made us leave at halftime turning the Stanford game his freshman year.

He called me, obviously very excited, in the third quarter asking me if I was watching the game. Silly question. Its snowing heavily in Madison so there I was watching the game in my apartment wearing my USC hat and sweatshirt. His mom has also turned into a football fan watching the game back in NoVA. She was very disappointed when they cut it off to go to the VT-FSU game.

As I figure it, for what I pay for his USC education they better darn well win the national championship. LOL.

Yep. I hope my parents would be like that if I end up at SC.
It's a good consequence.

My dad has certainly turned into a (semi) fan. He's a Cal grad, but not really a football fan, so basically he teases me about our loss to them, and he was supposedly rooting for his team during our game this year (he seemed like he wanted USC to win), but that's about it. Other than that, he seems pretty into our team.

Too funny -

Well here's my USC football "conversion" story.

Played in my high school marching band for 4 years, went to every football game, did shows every halftime, and never once watched the game. (was chatting with someone the whole time)

First marriage to a former HS football player lasted 14 years, a rabid fan who spent every waking hour watching every football game in our small NYC apt - I never once bothered looking at the TV except once I remember Miami had some cute Dolphins in a swimming pool and they threw a ball in a hoop when there was a touchdown, I think.

During this time I was a flight attendant that worked on chartered planes, I brought the Miami Dolphins, Duke and other college football teams that I forget. Still, never watched any game.
Divorce, 1980s living in St. Louis hung around in some upscale bar with some famous Cardnials football players (before the Rams) - they always remembered me, but honestly I forget their names now, and never watched them play.
So Flash forward - parents weekend this year, (have a freshman) I get totally hooked on USC football! Yes, yesterday I too got crazed when ABC ended the game and I hand to "watch" it on the computer!!!
Fight on!

Haha, what a great story, ebay!

USC football did that to me, too (although on a shorter time scale :) ). I played in the band in high school, too, and while I did care about our team, I didn't really know that much about it, and didn't like any football other than my team. I certainly didn't like college football, in fact, I didn't understand why anyone would. Then I got here. And now look at me. I'm a freak.

I know relatively nothing about football...

except that USC should win everything... and Reggie Bush is a superhero... and Matt Leinhart is dreamy.

I totally agree with you tawny, Matt Leinhart is dreamy!
