I've gotten into both schools as a premed. Which school will be better when it comes applying for med school?

Union:
-small classes
-professors who teaches, not researches
-$49,050 financial aid received
-hard classes

UMiami
-big city network with hospitals
-easier classes
-professor semi-teaches and researches
-$20,000 merit + financial aid to be expected similar to that of union
-beautiful campus

When you have both financial packages, subtract the scholarship and grant money that you don’t have to pay back from the estimated Cost of Attendance (COA) at each of these places. That will show you how much you will have to pay either in cash now, or later when you pay off your student loans.

You also need to remember, that the only loans that you are guaranteed to be able to take out are the federally determined (Stafford) loans. If there are independent loans or parent loans in your package, you and/or your parents might not be able to get those loans. Even if you can get them, they might add up to waaaaaaay too much over the course of four years!

Med school admission is very numbers driven. Your GPA and your MCAT score will be much more important than the name on your diploma. Med school is fiendishly expensive. You want to complete your undergraduate degree as cheaply as possible so that you can afford to pay off your med school loans one day!

Easy classes = a lot of med school rejections
Plus U of Miami is known as a party school. Don’t expect to get a lot of love from the better grad programs
