unique applicant! chances at brown/cornell/notre dame/nyu/and more?

Hello i asked a question less than a year ago about my chances at brown.. I understand this is a trivial and meager way to formulate my chances for getting into a school, but I would just like some opinions. I am open to constructive criticism and I will appreciate any response.
Brown is my dream school, but I fully realize it is extremely difficult to be accepted in to. Initially my grades are far from the normal, but I do have a story and justifying reason why that is so. I am willing to Early Decision (binding agreement) the school. overall brown is the best match for my personality and unconventional, quirky thought process, and the open curriculum definitely compliments my learning style and multiple fascinations with various subjects.

I go to a nationally-ranked,high school and it is extremely vigorous and challenging in academics, therefore it is quite difficult to receive exceptional nevermind average grades. 50% of my class has a GPA in the range of 2.8-3.2. Please note, my school does not give out class ranks.

im a female URM (hispanic) from the midwest

Academics:
*As a preface to this I feel I should inform any reader that I suffered from an extremely severe and damaging eating disorder and clinical depression my first year and a half of high school (Freshman-Second Semester Sophomore) and it definitely reflects in my grades. Through intense recovery over the course of months predominately December of my sophomore year, and additional support of my family and school community I was able to essentially regain my life and I began to really enjoy education and the art of learning.

Freshman year GPAs: 3.1, 3.2
Sophomore year GPAs: 3.4,3.8
Junior year GPAs: 4.1, 4.2
Cumulative GPA is around 3.633
im anticipating my 1st sem senior grades, with all the AP courses, to be around a 4.5

AP and Honors classes:
-AP Comparative Government and Politics
-Honors Latin 3
-Honors Greek 2
-Honors Anatomy and Physiology
-AP Statistics
-AP English Literature
-AP English Language (didnt take the course, but got a 5 on the test?)
-AP Latin 4 Vergil
-Honors Greek 3
my school is weird with APs bc you cant take any fresh/soph year and they limit how many you can take jun/sr year

SAT Score:
-Critical Reading: 740. Math: 640. Writing: 740
Composite: 2120
Taking it again, i've studied a lot, hoping for a 2200+ ?

Extracurricular:
(I am not in an exhausting number of clubs because I feel it is more important to dedicate myself fully to the ones that I am involved in, as opposed to merely being "in" an organization and not doing very much work or providing meaningful insight.)

-Lacrosse 4 years
-Competitive Cheerleading (only 2 years)
-Elected to Student Council as the Senator and Representative of my class
-Girl Scouts
-Volunteering and service is required at my school so I have many instances of such. Including coaching a basketball team for the disabled community, coaching a track team to the special olympics, and church volunteering as well
-AKC Dog-showing
-Choir at school and at my church

Awards:
-National Honor Society
-National Latin Honor Society (plus significant scores and awards on the National Latin Exams)
-Gold Award for Girl Scouts (The highest honor you can receive as a Girl Scout. Completely individual work and planning - I planned a job seminar/workshop for unemployed women in shelters in the Chicago and suburban community. This was able to provide jobs for hundreds of women in Chicago, who previously were either endangered in their home, lacked motivation and leadership skills, or went through a divorce and now were in need of a job.)
-In addition to this Gold Award Project I upkeep a website which raises awareness about the issue of unemployment in today's economy, how people can help, and a list of places looking for employees.
-medical club, executive board of diversity club, peer tutoring, mental health club president

also! i got a grant from the american cancer society to research chemotherapy treatment and effects, like peripheral neuropathy, the past summer and am working with the other researchers on publishing some findings!

N.b: Writing essays for college applications will certainly not be an issue or detriment to me, it will probably be best part off my entire app since I love to write.

This is quite long, but perhaps it was somewhat entertaining for you to hear a stranger ramble on about her future and past academic life. I appreciate anyone who took the time to read and anyone who supplies me with some form of answer. I apologize for any typos or grammatical errors in this "thread." I typed it without proofreading and relatively quick.

QUESTIONS:
1. chances at brown/cornell/nyu/notre dame/holy cross/oberlin/uc berkeley/pomona
2. is it better for me to apply to some of these early rather than late? im thinking of binding brown because its the best fit for me but if it lowers my chances than i wont?

*recruited for lacrosse at pomona but it doesnt guarantee a spot
*i worked for the speaker of the house who insisted on writing me a rec letter for nd since he went there

anyone have any thoughts/opinions? i would greatly, greatly appreciate it! :)

If your school provides a school description, and a GPA histogram reflecting just how many top students get “low” GPA numbers…then maybe you have a shot, who knows.

[2017 Ivy League Admissions Statistics | The Ivy Coach](2017 Ivy League Admissions Statistics | Ivy Coach)
Use this to see if early is better than late; Brown has double the chances applying ED than RD…many schools are like that (but not all).

If you’re being recruited and have talked to a coach there…usually they have you apply ED so they can flag your file and try to get you in? That’s so the coaches know who their lineup is real early…if they’re serious about having you in there, then they have you apply ED, so Brown gets tossed.

ANYWAYS
brown: Reach
cornell: low reach
nyu: Match
notre dame: Low Reach/high match
uc berkeley: Low reach/reach
pomona: Reach (low reach with athletic recruitment?)

Good luck! with it all! Chance back if you so feel like it?

I agree with the above mentioned post! Ask your counselor to explain the deets  your ECs look nice good chances :)

Brown: Reach
Cornell: Reach
NYU: Match
Notre Dame: Reach
Berkeley: High match (9th grade is not counted; this amounts to a 3.88)
Pomona: Reach
Holy Cross: High match
Oberlin: Match/High match

If you’re OK with going to Canada for undergrad then McGill should be a safety (then again mind your prospective major(s) in that case since admissions depend on the major, plus 9th grade is not counted either)

You do have an upward trend in GPA which is good, but the overall GPA is still too low for top schools paticularly they are weighed and not in a 4.0 scale. URM does help, but you may still want to bring up your SAT. As of now, the chance for top schools on the list is not high even for UCB. Can you calculate your UC GPA?

thank you for your input I appreciate it
I do realize that these are stretches for me I was mainly curious to see if it was 100% a lost cause or not. it really sucks that my fresh/beginning soph year are going to have such an effect on this especially because I wasn’t just slacking off. oh well anyhow
school does not provide UW because our courses and teachers are ridiculously challenging but I could probably calculate it
UC Gpa is around a 4 without courses like religion, 3.9 with those non core classes

That UC GPA really boost your chance for UCB. You still need to bring up your SAT scores a little bit because of oos status. It is a high match right now with the help of URM assuming the policy does not change even after the supreme court verdict.

im glad that’ll be beneficial. thank you again.
what would you say is an optimum sat range for someone in my situation?
oh and what does oos mean?

oos means out of state. USB would be very expensive for oos though. Your SAT is not far away from match. Your target sounds right. Even now, you should have a decent chance before of URM.

oh okay yes i know oos puts me at a disadvantage ugh.

ive been reading that state schools like the uc’s dont have to use affirmative action…and that there isnt a place to mark your ethnicity on the app? i have not validated this at all - someone was talking about it today, might not be right. but then again they have to be concerned about diversity, and as a prospect im looking for a place that wants diversity as well.
