Hi everyone! I was selected to become the Editor-in-chief of the yearbook next year. I have also worked with my school admins to start a newspaper next year. I will be the Editor-in-chief of the paper as well. Are these EC’s considered “unique” or “desirable”? Also, I think it is important to note that English is my third language.(??) Thank you!
They are solid ECs. They would not be considered unique in the pool of applicants at the very tippy top colleges. Remember that every high school in the US had those roles. I will say, that is a lot to bite off to do both those jobs. Both have some very intense time commitments associated with them. Be sure your grades don’t suffer.
Are they unique? No. Almost every one of the 37K US high schools has a yearbook and a newspaper, so there are 37K Editors-in-Chief every year.
Are they solid ECs? Yes. You should do ECs which interest you, not because you think they will look good.
Are they leadership! Yes and colleges like that.
Be careful that you don’t overextend yourself. Individually, each of them can be a lot of work.
