I'm in high school right now (junior) and I know I'll be bashed for being on here, but here goes...

My primary care physician went to Auburn University, then Johns Hopkins for Med School. She was an English major at Auburn who still took the right classes to fulfill Med School requirements. She's a white female from the South. She studied HARD. I don't know what her GPA is, but I'm assuming it was pretty excellent. I also haven't asked her her MCAT score, but I'm assuming that was pretty good, too.

I was just mentioning this because I'm trying to make college decisions (okay, just THINKING about them, but it's never to early to start) and I want to make the right choice on the path to medical school. I mentioned my doctor because I was wondering if you guys think something like that would work for me. I'm thinking about the University of Alabama's Fellows program (I have the stats to get in and I'm very interested because I qualify for their full ride. I don't want to concur too much debt before med school). If I go there I'd be able to pull off a 3.7+ GPA for sure. (I'm a big studier). I'm a Hispanic girl from Alabama, a good writer, great scientist, and decent in math. Would it be a good idea for me to major in (for example) English or journalism, or microbiology? Something sort of unrelated to medicine?

Thanks in advance.
