If the state would not consider your parents’ partnership a marriage, you are to use the parent who provided the most support to you in 2007. That’s the law, and you must abide by it. If it’s dad, your only option is going to the financial aid office & explaining your situation in hopes of getting some type of professional judgment in your favor (no guarantee this will happen, of course).</p>
