Unique Situation

So, I am currently a freshman at a top 60 university. I never intended to come here, but I am here now. I hate it so much, and my grades are atrocious. I will be lucky to have 12 completed/transferrable credits after this semester. There is a school that I really want to go to, but twelve credits (with a grade of C or better) are required to transfer. Otherwise, you can apply as a freshman if you have less than credits. If I complete less than twelve credits, should I apply as a freshman to a new college and drop out after this semester, or should I continue to go to my current school. Help me.

Yowch. Well, if you want the option of transferring, you’ll have to work harder. I know that’s difficult when you’re in a slump, but the idea of transferring should give you a goal to strive for. The semester isn’t over–meet with your teachers, and study as hard as you can for finals. Am I right in thinking that you’re taking at least twelve credits, but may not pass all of them? Do whatever it takes to pass.
As for whether it’s worth applying as a freshman, we really can’t answer that. We don’t know how difficult acceptance to this other school is, nor what your financial situation is.
For me, transferring meant losing a semester, and in my situation it was the right choice. But you know far better than us whether it would be right for you.

Honestly, your situation is actually pretty straightforward: you know what you want. Work to get it.

So, I should finish my freshman year and if I don’t get into my target school, then I should attend community college for a year or two. I am taking 15 credits as of now and 14 net semester. I honestly believe that I may end up with 23 credits or so after this year. Will taking classes during the summer at a local university or community college be counted towards my GPA?
