penn wouldnt care about that, they care about WHY i consider hte program

You kinda just missed the boat entirely by talking about your background and then moving on to table tennis and ending up nowhere. I think if you had taken time to properly structure your essay, then you might have gotten somewhere.

gees, some ppl need to get some modesty. I guess we'll see in a few month how creative all the essays really were

sure,send it over. :)

3 pages of people willing to read essays

evil asian dictator. once more, your arrogance will prove your downfall. "describe the UNIQUE COURSES OF STUDY" hmmm. it seems to me that i described the "unique courses of study," while you wrote out something that a Penn adcom could read on a brochure. wow. sure gonna get you in, eh? i didn't miss the boat, you did, buddy. the entire point of my essay wansnt table tennis. table tennis was an example of entrepreneurial spirit, which made me fit the huntsman program. wow, i hope penn appreciates your analytical skill. if you're going to talk about fitting the prompt, don't go toe to toe with me, anyone who read both of our essays would know.

My essay had stuff that MIT is stronger in than Penn. A chunk of my essay could have been written about any other college. I used my "Why Penn" as a base for my "Why Chicago" but changed around the social stuff. However, my essay didn't look like I browsed the common app site for top colleges.

i didn't you retard. they're not gonna look and say, "oh no, he didn't research penn to the fullest extent, and he saw it on commonapp and decided to apply, let's reject him." did you even read the content? i'm going to be laughing at you in april buddy boy

I already got in. I read your essay and you say that you looked on the common app site and saw the Penn supplement. That raised a red flag for me and I casually read it.

hope to see you in the fall :-D

by the way, the why penn essay wouldn't matter as much for me as my huntsman essay would

someone send me their why penn essay im bored and sick

I find it really amusing that you can't even take constructive criticism. This kind of over-confidence is not only annoying but also alarming. Huntsman is one of the hardest joint degrees to get into, and your Why Penn essay was definitely one of the weaker ones that I have read. Showing "entrepreneurial spirit" is great, but in no way do you stand out. For example, I started a Debate club at my school, and a lot of other Wharton applicants showed great entrepreneurship, including starting their own businesses. A friend of mine started 2 businesses - one that generates more income than both his parents combined. He was deferred, like me.

While talking about what classes you're interested in and your achievements, such as table tennis thing is great, your regional director will see that in almost every application. Your Why Penn essay was first supposed to show genuine your interest in Penn.. and I didn't see that. If EAD, venkater (two cc'ers that are really more experienced with CC) and I all are telling you what you missed, I suggest you cut a slice of humble pie. Your overconfident and defensive attitude will not help you get into Penn or anywhere else if you carry on like this.

If you would like to read my "Why Penn" essay, you can PM me...

venus, you're a hypocrite. shut your face. "in no way do you stand out" i didnt say anything about standing out, and your arrogance far exceeds mine. i'm not overconfident or defensive, i just don't like people who think they're essays are better than everyone elses (when they're not), or people who pass judgment like they think they're adcoms. like i said, we'll just see when april comes, won't we?

If the offer is still open, I'd like to see the Why Penn essay.

Mine wasn't by any stretch creative. I had several lines discussing my interest in the Cognitive Science department and its interdisciplinary emphasis on linguistics and philosophy, then lauched into a short paragraph on my the root of my interest (love of foreign culture, esp. film and language and ethical implications of neurotech advances, respectively) and briefly referenced the Center for Cognitive Science. Think I tacked on a few lines on cinema studies afterwards.

In retrospect, it may have been a better point to touch upon actual applications (development of speech therapy, etc) in addition to so-called "neuroethics" and I'm not sure that they will perceive the features I discuss to be wholly specific to Penn- after all, similar majors can be found and I have used earlier drafts of the same essay several times to discuss similar programs with slightly different requirements or facilities; ironically though, that essay happened to be the most truthful. Penn is the only school I've applied to with a program who requirements seem that specifically geared towards introducing the student to that broad range of disciplines in which cognition is central as opposed to offering a concentration in only one aspect and placing less emphasis on its relationship to the other disciplines (e.g. concentrating in neuroscience as it relates to speech without touching upon ethics or vice versa). Eh, that was all, uh, tangential, I guess. Sorry to thread hijack. Carry on. runs

i'm sure for huntsman, the why penn essay is not as important as the huntsman essay

You did ask for Wharton or CAS as a back up if you did not get into Huntsman right? If you did not that could be the end of you because it looks bad if the ONLY reason you want to go to Penn is Huntsman and you tell it to them. Also, your chances at Huntsman are next to none so you will want a back up if you actually want to go to Penn. Finally, Penn wants people in Huntsman to be interested in Penn. It is so competitive that if your Why Penn essay isnt good, they can go to the next person on the list and will still admit someone amazing.

first of all, yes i did, i asked for wharton. second of all, my chances are huntsman are higher than average for the huntsman pool (not just statswise, e.c. wise, did you even look at that? "next to none," are you stupid?) , and third of all, i never said i wasnt as interested in penn as i am in huntsman. get your facts straight buddy. apparently, penn didn't think your why penn essay was so great either, did they? you're like evilasiandictator, you think you read the prompt right, but you're WRONG buddy. "Describe the UNIQUE COURSES OF STUDY" and "WHY YOU ARE A GOOD MATCH FOR PENN". not "why are you interested in attending penn." looks like your analytical skills are lacking.

by the way, how would you know what penn officers want in huntsman candidates?

okay, I'm getting really sick of your attitude. I find it amusing how absolutely cocky you can be. Your chances at huntsman are higher than average for the huntsman pool? Can you state any reasons for that? Everyone who has applied to Huntsman on CC has asked for advice in the most humble way. Do you honestly think that you're "not overconfident or defensive" ?? All of your posts are insulting and disrespectful.
But you know what, keep that attitude and keep thinking that you'll be accepted into Penn, because Reality Sucks doesn't it? *****, please

are you angry that your rational has no basis? i haven't said anything about how i'm "better" than anyone. i just said 1. i like my why penn essay, and 2. i have a higher than average chance for the huntsman pool (a regional adcom told me.) for two reasons. one, i have two study abroad experiences that are nationally recognized. and two, i had a special internship with my congressman that let me talk to international leaders. i'm not saying i'm a shoe-in, or even close to that, i'm just saying my chances are higehr than average. test scores and gpa wise, i'm aroudn average. are there any posts that you can find with my "overconfident" tone? the only reason i soudn like that is because evilasiandictator tried to criticize my essay and pass judgment on my admission decision, but didn't realize he read the prompt wrong and got owned. the entire reason i started this thread is so that people could tell me how my essay is. the reason i got so defensive was because right after i post, people get on (like EAD), and say "mine's better than yours." right off the bat. that's a direct quote.
