<p>In the Orientation packet we received, it said that we can activate our UNIs on [url=<a href="http://uni.columbia.edu/%5DmyUNI%5B/url">http://uni.columbia.edu/]myUNI[/url</a> ]. But whenever I try it (using my name rather than my existing UNI) it won't work. So, do we have to wait and get our actual UNIs separately before we can activate them?</p>
<p>Same problem with me (says something along the lines of “not enough sufficient information.”)</p>
<p>I read up on the site’s FAQ, and this is what it says:</p>

** As new student, how can I set up a UNI/email ID?**</p>
<p>The Registrar provides the data which grants students eligibility for UNIs and email IDs. You will not be able to activate your UNI and email ID until data about your status as a student is in place. Once it is, you’ll be able to activate your ID online</p>
<p>If you try to activate your ID BEFORE your data is in place, you will receive an error suggesting that you don’t exist. Please wait at least a day before trying again.</p>
<p>Most incoming students will be able to activate their IDs sometime during the summer before arriving on campus, but the precise timing is not always predictable. </p>
<p>I am a new student. Why does it say that I am not found when I try to activate my UNI and create my email account? </p>
<p>Your UNI is not yet in the system. The system creates your UNI after the Admissions department (in your school), your academic advisor, and the Registrar’s Office complete the admissions process.</p>
<p>We receive information, on a daily basis, from Human Resources and the Student Information System regarding people who are entering or leaving the University. When that happens, your account will be created and you will be able to activate it.</p>

<p>I’d say just wait a few days to a week and maybe something will change by then.</p>
