Unit 1 Double vs. Unit 2 Double mini Suite

Hi I have this option for my housing right now. Next semester Im gonna be a sophomore and want to get some studying done while still having a fun Unit experience. I have a choice between a Unit 1 Normal Hall Double vs. a Unit 2 Double in a Mini Suite.

Which do you guys think is better thanks?

mini suite

i’m in a double minisuite for unit 2 next year too, mostly for the studying aspect. sorry for semi-hijacking this thread :)

are all the minisuites in one or two specific buildings, or are they spread throughout unit 2?

how are they structured too? does the hallway door lead into the minisuite’s living room? and what’s in the living room, some couches and a coffee table or what?

The only difference between a normal double and a minisuite double is that the minisuite double shares a private bathroom with another triple or double room. There is no living room except for a very small space/hallway between the two rooms and the bathroom.

The minisuites are located in 4 buildings. 2 at Unit 1 and 2 at Unit 2. However, the entire building is not a minisuite building as there are normal dorm rooms in them too.

Considering how often you may need to go use the bathroom/showers, it’s easier to be social when you are not in a minisuite. I don’t think it will be any quieter in a minisuite though…although you yourself will probably interact less with people.

what’s the private bathroom like?

just a shower and toilet and sink (and hopefully ventilation)? does it get custodian services?

Yeah, I think there are two toilets, 1 shower, and two sinks. Don’t know about ventilation…The custodial person that comes through to clean your floor will also stop by to clean mini suite bathrooms as well I believe.

@ lolumad – no, unit 2 mini-suites are in Towle only. Unit 1 min-suites are in Christian and Slottman – for the freshman, these are buildings named after people, not based on religion! :)

Here’s a link to the mini-suites, which are bigger and nicer than the doubles, and well priced.

yeah im just hesitant of choosing a suite I might end up not meeting to many people on a daily basis whereas in a hall there would be tons of people. If I want quiet I can just close my door i guess?

i guess you could just spend a lot of time in the study and see who comes to visit.
