Unit 1 Mini Suite

I don't think it's wrong to be ****ed, but you do have to realize that they are people and make mistakes, and as sweetdreams87 listed part of the reasons, there are many other things that could have made their jobs hard. If you really like Unit 1, Unit 2 is really basically the same thing. See if you can get a room there.

TO Stripedsweater: I got an e-mail from the Housing Office yesterday (Friday) afternoon asking if I wanted to cancel my housing contract. Out of curiosity I called them and they told me they would refund my deposit if I wanted to cancel now and move off campus. They are offering this because they have approx 25 people w/ housing contracts and no beds for them. This e-mail went out to a lot of people (I am not sure if it went out to everyone in the units,) and the person I spoke to told me if I was interested I should respond right away because they already had almost enough responses needed.
So, your problem should be resolved early in the week. Sorry you had to go through this.

"and the person I spoke to told me if I was interested I should respond right away because they already had almost enough responses needed."

Not necessarily true. They could be saying that just to encourage you to cancel your contract!

A couple days ago I called the housing office, and they told me there was a vacancy in Unit 3. However, I'd be rooming with two sophomores (who probably know each other). I was upset, but I took it. But I also told them that I would want to transfer to Unit 1 if any spots opened. From CA2006's post, it seems that this would be unlikely.

I'm just really ****ed off about the whole thing because:
1) A couple weeks before rooming information came out, a friend and I decided to room together and e-mailed the housing office (they said we could do this). When information came out, it turned out that they did not honor this request, and my friend is rooming with two random people, and I was stuck with no room.
2) I was originally assigned a Unit 1 triple, and now I have to pay more for housing than I originally believed.
3) I was really excited about being in Unit 1 and having the freshman experience! And now, unless by some miracle there is a opening in Unit 1, I have to be in a suite with sophomores, and I'll probably be the 3rd wheel for the rest of the year.

CA2006, what were you originally assigned? They didn't even give you an opportunity to transfer? When I called the housing office, I asked them what would have happened to me if I had just waited until moving day and never contacted them, and if I would have not had any room. They said that I would "definitely" get housing, and they had a list of people who didn't have rooms yet that they would call. But now they're telling you to cancel the contract?
