Unit 1 vs Unit 2 vs Unit 3

Hey, I have already read some past threads discussing the difference between the Units. I already know the issues of distance from campus, newer/older, etc. However, does anyone have any personal experiences or additional details they can share about choosing between the 3 units? Also, how likely is it for me to get the dorm of my choice? Thanks!

The Units are basically the same, other than the distance, age of building stuff that you already mentioned. Your experience is likely to depend not on the Unit, when choosing from these three, but more on the people that end up on your floor. Some people randomly say that one Unit is more or less social than another but that’s pretty much BS. It pretty much depends on the people randomly assigned to your floor and/or building.

Also, just some other random facts in case you didn’t know. In Units 1/2, there’s laundry on every other floor of the high rise buildings. In Unit 3, laundry is centralized and not in your building, but instead in a common area. Also, in Units 1/2, you’re closer to Crossroads, which is open every day, and in Unit 3, you have Cafe 3 right there but it’s only open Mon-Thurs. But you have Bear Market where you can buy random snacks, cereal, ice cream, etc.

For most people it seems to come down to a Unit 1 vs. Unit 3 debate. Unit 2 is basically a Unit 1 clone with a slightly worse location.

The likelihood of you getting your first choice can’t really be easily quantified. It’s a lottery. I got the dorm of my choice (Unit 1) but got a triple instead of a double. That being said, I wouldn’t trade away to a double in any other dorm, my floor has some awesome people.
