Unit Cap at USC and NYU

The UCs have a unit cap of 70 units that'll count towards credit toward your degree, but when you apply you're allowed to have as many units as you want and the extra ones will only count towards GPA. So I could apply with 120 units (the amount to graduate), and they would take the GPA from all of them but only give me unit credit for 70, so I would have to take an additional 50 units at the UC to graduate.

Are USC and NYU like this? I'll have 95 semester units by the end of fall 2012, and I plan to take some more in the spring. The majority of them are from a community college, so all lower division, and then I have 24 from UCB summer sessions, 12 which are upper division.

So can I still apply to USC and NYU as a junior level transfer? Are there any other schools I can transfer to? I have a 3.4 btw with a strong upward grade trend and a very strong demonstrated interest in my major (I'll have 13 classes in my major, philosophy, when I apply).

I’ve looked all over USC’s website and have not found anything regarding a unit cap.

Hopefully someone else can give us a definitive answer.

Wait, I misread your question. I’m pretty sure they only count 60 units. After that, they grant subject credit.
