Unit load at UCLA

How many units/classes do you plan on taking at UCLA? And while where on the subject, how long do you think it's going to take you to graduate?

I was thinking on taking 3-4 classes per quarter (3 5-unit classes, or 4 4-unit classes.) I don't know how long it'll take me to graduate. I'm trying to keep it under two years, that is, if I don't change majors or add a minor.

That sounds like a plan......I guess it all depends on the nature of each class. I'd imagine around 3-4 classes would be about normal. And 2 years is all I care to spend anywhere. lol

the Schedule comes out June 14th.

On my UCLA, if you go under class planner there is already a listing of Fall 2005 classes. Don't know how accurate that schedule is though.....

Oh, sure....I saw that. It's not the same as the Schedule of classes though....

Really? Why do you say that? The scedules for summer and spring are the same as in the class planners.

Is there a correlation between the number of units you come in with and the number of units you are going to be allowed to take at UCLA. When we come in will we be doing only upper-division course work in our major or are there still general ed courses that we must take at UCLA? I know that's a dumb question but I honestly don't know the answer.

Mex.....hey, don't sweat it, I'm sure there's a million dumb questions that I have swimming in my head regarding UCLA yet, I suppose I'll just wait til I figure it out as I go along. This is my understanding, based on my own situation as an upper-div, English/History transfer.

1) As long as IGETC is completed there is no further Gen Ed that we will complete; however, for those of us like myself who need to complete one or two lower div. prep, obviously we need to complete those as well and just incorporate them in our schedule.
2) I assume also that those who have been admitted to UCLA have already completed IGETC and all lower-div prep, so then it only stands to reason that they will expect you to complete upper-div only in an effort to graduate within the allotted time allowed......hope I phrased that right.

It's kinda like....."get in, get out". lol I'm sure there is wiggle room and that you're able to take many courses of interest, but only if you're still able to complete all graduation requirements for the major that you were accepted with. They, of course, assume that only a few students will want to change their major and then in that case, my explanation doesn't really apply. lol

I know there are several students on here.....that want to change majors, but unless they have the proper lower-div, I don't think they realize how short a time they have at UCLA. I mean....there's only so many units and then, "time's up!"
