Unit max petition question

Alright, so apparently it looks like I'm screwed if I'm correct about this: I'm transferring in with 105 units (109 technically, but the last four are AP units so they're flexible, according to my OC), and I figured out I need to take around 134 units in the next two years to cover all my required classes for a B.A. I've read the max allowable units is 216, and I'm assuming that's for all the undergraduate work you've done, right? Therefore, I'm going to end up with 239 units by the time I'm done -- way over the maximum.

So for anyone who's gone through the process: how easy is it to petition to go over the max? What are the chances of getting that approved, do you think? And where do you go to petition?

are u sure, most major's upper division courses are only like 60ish units? what major are you planning on doing?

if you're transferring in with 105 units, i'm sure at least some will count towards GEs or pre-major classes. otherwise why did you take 105 completely unrelated units in the first place....

the max is not a big deal. just graduate in four years. its just to keep people from taking a bunch of random classes and constantly changing majors.

it'll be tough to get 134 units in 2 years isn't it? 21 units a quarter is 126 units in 2 years... but 21 units a quarter for 6 straight quarters prolly will force you to suicide? lol maybe a bit extreme...

oh yeah, it's 5 years for junior transfers. something like that.

Oh thank god, I recounted the units and it looks like I was counting 24 of them twice (hate how this paper they gave us is set up). But it looks like I'll still be going over. And Changeling, I'm in film, and on top of the major requirements, there's the preparation for major (17 units), foreign language (12ish units), and three literature classes (12-15 units) that I have to take. And then if I have time, the other classes in the department that interest me...

Hopefully you have some prior foreign language knowledge that will help you skip at least some of those 12ish units. Have you investigated whether you can find some overlap among your requirements (GEs and prerequisites, for example), 'cause sometimes I am surprised what classes will satisfy multiple requirements. Good luck with all your stuff, regardless. Try to leave room for enjoyment!

ohh =S I guess that would be a lot. And I think foreign langauges are usually 5 units each, so from scratch that'd be 15 units...
They care about time more than classes. As long as you get out in the alloted time the units doesn't matter tooo much.
