Hello all,
This may sound like a stupid question, but I was wondering what is the unit max for transferring? I know you can take as many units as you’d like at CC’s, but is the unit max the maximum transferable units? Once again, sorry if this question sounds stupid. I have tried to talk with a school counselor but it was no help. Thanks!
If all of your courses/units are from a community college, you can never hit a unit cap.
A certain amount are awarded to the completion of your degree. I think its up to 70 semester units. However, you get subject credit for everything and all grades count in your GPA calculation.
If you are coming from a university, the rules get a bit murky.
I think starting Fall 2014, even units from out of state universities count towards that 70 units cap.
See http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/uc-transfer-maximum-limitation-policy-chart.pdf . Note that all community college units are lower division and subject to the 70 semester unit limit, so they alone will not cause you to have too many units for admission. However, if you also have any UC or upper division units, then you could encounter the too many units problem.
