I am from FL and I have an interview in a few days. They will choose who will be the delegates based on this interview but I have no idea how to prepare or what they will ask. Any tips?
I had a finalist interview in my state a couple weeks ago. I know every one of the 50 has a different procedure, but mine was informal - much more so than I expected. It focused mostly on my interests, future plans, leadership experience, strengths, weaknesses and other extracurricular involvements. There was also a section when I was allowed to ask my interviewers any questions about their fascinating (not sarcastic; I really was intrigued by their work in the state Department of Education) careers.
Surprisingly, there was almost nothing about politics/civics. I guess the four essays I wrote to qualify to the finalist round gave them what they needed in that regard.
Good luck! Here’s hoping we both get in and can meet each other in a few months!
And a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Hi! When did you find out you received an interview? I also applied, just curious. Good Luck!
Hi there. I was notified at the beginning of November that I would be receiving an interview. Unfortunately, you probably won’t be having one, because the states have to notify the Hearst Foundation of their delegates by tomorrow. If you’re a junior, I wish you the best luck for next year.
Thank you for wishing me luck. Happy Holidays!

Hi! I’m from NJ and I applied to USSYP. I asked a past NJ delegate about the application process, and they said that they had no qualifying test or interview and were notified at the beginning of December of their status. The process is probably different in every state. I’m really hoping I can get selected. Can’t wait for tomorrow!
Has anyone heard anything?
Not yet - hoping for news by the end of the week.
AL released their results on 12/2, and
I was lucky enough to be selected! Good luck to everyone!! I hope y’all hear back soon.
Congratulations! I wonder if they’re going alphabetically in terms of allowing states to release their results. As a student from a state in the final third of the alphabet, I guess I’ll just keep waiting.
Hope to see you in March.

did anyone in nj hear anything?
Anybody in Hawaii hear anything?
Anyone hear from NY? Still didn’t get anything.
Hey @spelledwithak everyone from NJ received their emails already. I was rejected, but everyone I’ve asked who has received their emails also got rejected. There’s a possibility you could have been selected? I have no idea. Either way, you should have been contacted by now.
@ritwiktatertot what address was the email sent from? i just combed through my inbox and there was nothing…
What does that mean if I didn’t get any answer (NY)? I’m getting a little anxious…
We’re in the same boat; haven’t heard anything yet (NY)…
Unfortunately, I wasn’t selected - my state chose all seniors for the delegate and alternate positions, which I completely understand. Hoping for a better outcome next year, but at least my friend was picked as an alternate. I couldn’t be happier for him.
I didn’t get an interview and from NY… does that mean I For sure didn’t get accepted?
@mjg13xx yeah I’m a junior and my other friend who is also junior got rejected, so I’m assuming they picked all seniors.
@spelledwithak It was from a woman named Beverly Plein from the NJ Department of Education. Maybe your application wasn’t processed correctly or wasn’t received on time? Idk, I’m just trying to guess.
did all other states (besides hawaii) receive notification?
