Ok so to transfer, you need a minimum of 70 semester and 90 quarter units.
I’m wondering… is it fine if you do not have this by the time of the admission selection process, obviously? If so, when you send in your certification that you completed IGETC after being accepted somewhere, you would also be admitting to those 90 quarter units being finished by the time you leave CC? How does that work?
Also, I currently have 66 units… I’m on the quarter system and I have 2 more quarters to go. Thus, the minimum 90 quarter units and maximum 105 transferable units. Do you think I’m on the right track / will this impair me in any way when the admissions are looking at my profile? The thing is, I actually have more unit points technically, because I submitted 3 AP scores to my college. I was wondering, do you my AP scores account into my units total, the one that the college admissions will be looking at? Because if so, I think I have reached the 90 minimum… and then that introduces the problem that in these next two quarters I’m scared if that is the case, that I would be venturing into the territory of the maximum 105, in which case if you take 105+ you can get penalized, right? Ahh!
You need 60 semester or 90 quarter units by the end of the Spring term prior to transferring.
AP units can count towards the unit minimum, but they will not be held against you - AP units will not push you over the maximum unit total.
All CC units are counted as lower-division, and lower-division units will not go over the maximum. No matter how many lower-div units you complete, a maximum of 105 quarter units or 70 semester units will transfer over.
You are on track. Your having 66 units (not counting AP units) makes you only need 12 quarter units per term, which is totally manageable. Considering you have AP units, you could even take less than that, provided you’ve finished all your requirementts.
Some UCs advisers will encourage you to take more related classes at your community college if you have space as it may open up alternate majors and minors at your eventual UC later on. One consideration to take though is to try and finish your major prerequisites by the end of the fall prior to your transfer so that your transcript will have final grades instead of planned/in-progress at the time of consideration.
If I remember correctly, you are a Comp Sci applicant? It’s one of the majors that relies on completion of prerequisites (using Assist.org or the campus specific major pages) for admission evaluation so that plays much more heavily then your end units completed. For comparisons sake though, UCLA publishes that the average Comp Sci applicant had 115 quarter units completed. (https://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof14_mjr.htm)
With regards to AP scores, review the [official site](University of California Counselors) as well as the respective campus specific page for details as they may not be counted for class equivalency depending on score and campus. The CCC and CSU policies are much more lenient than the UCs.
