Units??

If ill have more than 70 units ( 76) by spring, do i choose which classes to transfer? since the cap is at 70

no. they all transfer for subject credit, they just cap you at 70 semester units.

So only 70 units will transfer over to the UC right?

The only reason the cap matters is the number of units you’ve completed towards graduation… just the number. You need 120 semester units to graduate, and you’re only allowed to fulfill 70 of that with transfer credit. Basically this policy says that you’re supposed to take 2 years (50+ credits) after transferring.

You still get subject credit for every class you’ve taken, there’s no limits on that. All your classes will also count towards your GPA.

The cap is for UNITS. So all the classes that are transferable will fill up pre-reqestive, breadth or elective units. But your UNIT TOTAL will say 70.

The reason for this is because UCs have strict policies on limiting the amount of credits an undergraduate student can have. For instance UCLA caps students at 144 semester (216 quarter units) So if a student transferred in with 100 (semester) units (very possible for engineering) They would only have 44 left to complete major. Hence they would be kicked out before ever graduating. So the unit cap is for UNITS only.
