It says on the admissions website that UA generally admits a student with a 20 ACT or 950 SAT score and a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. So if you have anything above that, then UA is considered a safety. Anyone know if this is actually true or not? Thanks.

Does anyone know???

If you have above that, then yes, UA is a safety. Alabama is not a hard school to get into if you exceed those expectations.

Thanks, I was just making sure.

For bare bone admissions, yeah, it's a safety. If you want some merit money or want to get into one of honor programs though, then Alabama's selectivity is probably in the range of schools in the 50s and 60s in the US News uni rankings.

Does it make a difference that I am out of state (Georgia)?

well, obviously schools are a touch harder on you if you're out of state, but not for basic admissions. The important part of college is not getting into the University, but instead, getting into the program. Most Alabama's programs are very prestigous and require some type of merit or effort in order to get into. And, obviously, it is harder to get money if you're out of state. But comparably to other universities, UA has a rather high out-of-state admissions percentage.

It honestly depends on what you're going to the University to major in.

What kind of SAT score do you think I need just for basic admissions? I have a 3.65 cumulative GPA.

A 950 M+CR. Oh, and see if you can get your counselor to round that 3.65 to a 3.7. If that's how it appears on your transcript, that's how they take it.

Actually my school does it numerically, I just went through my transcript and I got a 3.65. But on my transcript it says: 90.88. But, I still have my junior year so it will probably go up.

What about for the ACT???

Try for at least a 30.

I think you mean a 20.

with a 30 you'll get a full tuition scholarship...32+ and you can apply for their highest award

That's what I meant to say.

I didnt know it was this easy to get in.

It's not getting in that's difficult. It's trying to get a scholarship or any sort of financial aid that isn't a loan that kills people.

Just to update: I emailed the admissions counselor and asked her if you meet or exceed the 3.0 GPA and 950 SAT and the high school course requirements do you automatically get accepted to the University? And she said yes.

Yeah, that's what we've been telling you.

haha
I love you Martha.
You make my day.
