Univ of Texas Undergrad Film Program

I was looking at UT's Radio-TV-Film (RTF) site yesterday trying to find admissions statistics. I didn't find that, but I did find that they have 900 (!) undergraduates in RTF. I know that UT's school has a very good reputation, yet it looks like it might not be nearly as selective as other programs. For what it's worth, the RTF program there appears to be lighter on production courses than other universities. Has anyone looked into UT? We live in Texas, so our son should have a very good chance of being admitted to UT. I just wondered if getting into the film school is a separate process, as it is most places.

Here's the thing about RTF at UT:
No, it isn't ridiculously selective, but that doesn't mean that it isn't one of the best. If your son is an outstanding film student, he'll rise to the top of a very competitive school, which means a LOT--it means more to conquer a department like UT's than a smaller, more select one. The UT RTF won't hold your hand--you have to be motivated to make stuff happen on campus. Here's a great example:

Stephen and I went to high school together. He's amaaaazing. He could have gone some place fancier, but he knew that there's a lot of resources, money and connections in UT RFT. He's sort of a mini-celebrity at UT for his film about "the Wendy's guy."
It takes an entrepreneurial spirit to make it in film and TV--and UT is a great place to develop that.

You can find some information in these sources. TAFTP forum is especially useful, I strongly recommend the "HUNTING" part (jobs in TX, LA and NM). :D
