Acceptance is a gold envelope
I heard that acceptance one is gold but I’m not certain
And rejection is? Does anyone know?
Any international student received email??
I assume white.
@katherine many schools, including UW, do. If they don’t admit those kinds of kids, who they think are good enough to go to HYPSM etc. and will go there over UW, then they can increase their yield and look more selective. Of course, they’ll still admit some of those kids, and give them merit aid, but not all.
makes sense @smartypants57 my SAT is well below average so I probably shouldn’t even expect anything
The UW acceptance letter is gold with “the big envelope” written on it. And the rejection letter is a white envelope. They are the same thickness I believe because if you get accepted they send a welcome packet a week after.
I heard the reason for things like DA programs was to increase their yield and retain high-achieving students that would otherwise not go to UW.
According to 2015 records, UDub had accepted more than 19000 out of which only about 7000 enrolled. This shows that their acceptance to enrollment ratio is low.
I’m in the same boat as @Javascript98. I don’t know what happened. I worked so hard during high school and I can’t believe that I got rejected. I had a 2330 SAT, 4.0 GPA, multiple robotics competitions.
They didn’t even give me “Pre-Computer Science”?? They just straight rejected me??
What the heck UW
I know that this is primarily a guess but I SAT score is 1370 and GPA is 3.5 and it’s because I had some very close family members that passed away and it effected my grades and SAT as one can tell. So, I wrote my essay about what exactly happened and how I plan to improve it so do you think I have a slight chance maybe?
They don’t take transcripts, so the GPA isn’t part of the equation.
@katherine that only increases yield by a little, because it only helps the people who are worried they won’t get into a certain major. Those people who aren’t really concerned about that/are applying to UW as a very clear safety don’t care as much/aren’t affected as much by this.
@2828collegebound They do actually, I recall inputting it on the application.
why did you do get your letter too? where do you live?
@csiscool98 They ask for your GPA and grades, but UW doesn’t actually have your high school send your documented transcript to them
@2828collegebound they don’t take official transcripts, but you still have to give them all the information on your transcript and stuff, inputted into the application. They have your UW GPA, and can calculated weighted GPA however they want as well.
That is your reporting of your academic record/coursework on the app. GPA is low on their priority list. Scores, essay and rigor of classes is much higher as they know so many schools inflate grades now a days and an A is not standardized. That’s what I was told by the director of admissions.
From their website:Do not send high school or college transcripts until you receive a request from the Office of Admissions. The application asks you to tell us about your academic coursework in detail, and that’s all we need with your application.
For the first time in my life, I’m angry that my mail doesn’t come faster.
