Universities for average, poor/middle class student

Can anybody tell me which colleges are suitable for just an average academic students? My SAT score is 1860 (Math - 680, CR - 600, W - 580) and toefl 92. Myy high school GPA is 3.9 out of 4.0. I'm from a lower middle class family and only can spend about US $4000 annually for my tuition (including room, board, meal). I'm willing to do my bachelor in mechanical engineering or something familiar with that (industrial, aeronautical, automotive). Is there any chance for me to study in USA with that? If yes, please help me guys... :-( it would be GREAT if you can help me with some specific colleges name that would suit me.. (if there is any)

Please try to help me out guys. I really wish badly to study in US although As of my academic I guess I need some colleges which helps international student almost without any reason!!! :-( but everybody has some wishes...:-)

And how exactly does being lower middle class make you poor?

You could always try shooting for lower tier private LACs, there are definitely some who give decent finaid to internationals, though they don’t necessarily offer degrees in engineering.

An education in the States on $4,000 is virtually impossible for someone with your SAT and TOEFL scores. Look elsewhere in the world. Sweden or Finland might be possible if they have inexpensive housing. Look at online courses. I have heard that some good American universities have them.

i doubt your scores are competitive enough for top schools, which are probably the only schools that will give you enough funding.

Working hard on your essays might be a way to help you out.

I guess, I need to take sat and toefl again… And this time i will go to the exam hall with well preparation… not like the last time… :-\ thank you all guys. :-)
