the upper quartile at Pepperdine has about a 1350 M+CR or higher. Merit likely is given to those students in amounts based on how high their test scores are.

@butterfreesnd I go to an all-girls catholic high school and take part in many religious extra-curriculars. Does that improve my chances of getting in?

I don’t think in a significant way, but it is a religious oriented school so that is good. The thing is you will have to be okay with the religion requirements for the Church of Christ attendance or you get some kind of demerit. I would be very careful to understand the school philosophy before going. Read the student handbook, etc.

The school upholds the New Testament-based traditions of the Churches of Christ. Students must attend 14 spiritual events a semester and take at least three religion courses during their time at Pepperdine. There is a Church of Christ on campus, as well as a handful of student-led ministries.

@Elle16 I think that because faith is very important at Pepperdine, they will appreciate it more than at, say, UCLA, but I would also expect that a majority of applicants will have similar ECs, so YMMV. It certainly will not hurt your chances.

If very religious schools don’t bother you, you could also look at Biola and Point Loma Nazrene (you would probably get substantial merit aid at both), but I believe they are evangelical Christian as opposed to Catholic, and maybe even more extreme than Pepperdine.

Also, BrownParent makes a good point - make sure these schools are good fits. If they are not, you would probably end up being unhappy there.

Be sure to check out the Claremont consortium too.
