Universities in the United Kingdom

I really doubt many people wold chose St Andrews over Oxbridge. That is equivalent to choosing UCLA/NYU/Umich over a HYPS

Selectivity in the UK means nowt because students apply to alimited number of courses unlike the US where students apply to an unlimited number of schools.

How about University of Manchester? I know a few graduated from top schools in London like St Paul in London that went there. My first office mate got a Phd from there.

I wouldn't say thats a top school to be honest... not in the league of oxbridge, LSE, Imperial etc. but yes it is certainly one of the better ones

No I did not say it is a top school like Oxbridge but my 2 nieces graduated from there and they both attend top high schools in London where you mix with other rich kids. They did compete very well with other Oxbridge graduates in UK Medical school, so it cannot be that bad.

Manchester would be in the top 15-20. It's my insurance ;)

What would be a US Equal to University of Edinburgh? Anyone have any experiences with that school?

It's my Firm...though it seems unlikely I'll go there now that I've got my visa all sorted. But tbh its a great university and the only reason I'm not going there is because I'm kind of unsure what course I want to do.

Edinburgh has been pouring money into stem cell research, hoping to reverse the brain drain by taking advantage of foolish cuts in American funding.
