Universities that care most about community service

which top universities take community service/extracurriculars into great account when admitting you?

UNC-CH, UIUC, SUNY Bing, Ohio State, U Texas, UVA

apparently, Tulane really prioritizes community service…and encourages entering students to actively participate in the rebuilding of NOLA…

The very top universities – places like H, Y, Amherst – take into account community service – results, not hours – in admitting students from their large pool of students with extraordinarily high stats.

Most other universities consider community service at most for merit aid or as a tip factor. This particularly is true of public universities, which consider stats and state of residence paramount in their admission factors.

I’m not aware of any schools that would admit a student with subpar stats, but extraordinary community service. What’s most important to schools is whether a student has the ability and motivation to do the academic work college requires. They don’t want to accept students who’ll do a great job on campus with ECs and community service, but will flunk out.
