When does the office of admission send notification of the University Achievement Award? Have the decision for those awards already been made? Feel free to elaborate....Thanks :)

Also, I just found this description of the university achievement award on the financial aid section of the U.Va. website.

[quote]
University Achievement Awards The Office of Admission selects 50 entering African-American students each year to receive University Achievement Awards which cover full tuition and fees for all four years of attendance at the University. The awards are made on a competitive basis to students who are Virginia residents. Consideration for the Achievement Award is automatic; no specific application is required.

The admission website says nothing about it being open only to African American students. It would make me ineligible if the one on the financial aid website is correct. Thanks for any help you can provide.

i'm not sure, but i believe that scholarship, like most others, is given by the Alumni Association so the admissions office might have nothing to do with it

I'll check into where that description came from (it looks like that one is from the Registrar and from 1995?). From what I understand, the Outreach Office passes on the names of students who meet the criteria and a committee in the Alumni Association selects the winners.

Give Valerie Gregory in Outreach a call on Monday and I'm sure she'll be able to tell you the timeline.
