University and TOEFL

Hello,
I am having a huge problem now, and I don’t really know what to do.
To begin with, I have my own counselor in my homecountry. And he deals with all the application process for each school and tells me what to prepare. I followed his instruction since he was doing his such job for over 10-20 years. And while I was counseling with him, he said only very few universities require TOEFL scores to transfer. But to make it sure, I visited all the sites of the universities that I wanted to apply like Columbia, Upenn, Chicago, USC, Brown, Conell, etc. And I checked the requirements of TOEFL for English second language students, and mostly they were saying I need at least 100 points from the TOEFL in order to apply the school. I asked my counselor, and he said since I have been taking english-based programs at community college for over two-years. So, I believed his opinion and only focused on getting high GPAs and doing volunteer works. However, yesterday Feb 2nd of 2016, he told me that all the universities require 100points of toefl scores. He knew that he was saying differently about the requirements of TOEFL, and he felt sorry with the fact that he made mistake. I was really upset with it, but there’s nothing I can do from now/ and it was also my mistake too…
I actually registered for the TOEFL test on Feb 12th, but I am pretty afraid of the situation that I cannot get enough score from the test.
Well, if I get more than 100 scores from this test, then I have no problem with applying those schools.
However, if I failed to get over 100 scores, I have no chance to get in those schools.

So, I want to ask you if I failed the test, can I hold my current community college’s status for a quarter, and apply those universities again for the next following quarter?
While I am holding my status at community college, I will earn 100 scores of TOEFL, and join more community volunteer service.
Is this a possible way?
Or is there any other possible way for my situation?

Thank you.

All of those colleges, except Chicago, operate on a semester system, not a quarter system. Can you wait until the following semester? That is school specific - some, like Columbia and Penn, only accept transfers for September, so you will really need to research each school’s policies.

Honestly, if you’ve been able to keep up with CC courses in English, you should be able to get 100+ on the TOEFL. The main thing you need to do is work on the vocabulary words you don’t know.

You should consider that even assuming you have a good grades there’s a good chance you won’t get accepted to any of the universities you listed (that’s just reality). So you should have other universities you want to go to (and those probably require a lower TOEFL score).

I’d suggest you wait and see what your scores are and then consider what to do.
