My daughter was accepted in November elected not to do the honors college.
@2023collegemama There will not be any note confirming that the application is complete. If your child is accepted, he/she will receive an email to check portal for application status update. Then, there will be an update of the status posted above the list of documents with green check marks (on the same page). Check email regularly.
@AJC Thank you for the clarification! I was worried he should see something saying “complete”. Now he can just sit back and wait.
Buffalo called me and said my application was under final review. I don’t know why they called me
Hey guys, so I logged into my status page and for the third time I saw “2019 Fall Domestic Freshman” in big letters, but this time it lasted for around 5 seconds then disappeared. Is this a good sign? Because I saw other people saying they saw this glitch where it flashes saying that or something. Someone please answer
@heloudanny I really don’t think that means anything because that has been happening with my son’s account for the past couple weeks. I really wish it did. The first time I saw it I was very excited…but after seeing it for the past couple weeks I think it is just identifying the type of applicant he is. I think my son will be waiting until the end of the applications because he is not a particularly strong applicant. I really hope he gets in though because it is his absolute first choice, he loved it when he visited. I hope others with less impressive GPA’s and SAT scores will share their stories too. I know there must be a few others who are under the average and waiting?
2023collegemama I totally agree. That’s been happening for months and means nothing so far. My son isn’t a super star student as well. Lol seems nobody else is average :).
Do you mind stating his stats?
I am sure he is the lowest on here but I will share so it makes others hopeful. Average 89, SAT 1080 (retook last week and studied so hopefully it can super score into the mid 1100’s but no guarantee). He has taken a few dual courses and has several dual courses this year but no AP’s or IB’s. He played football all 4 years, and did an internship with several EC’s on a smaller scale and has had a job for the past 1.5 years.
Be confident! Hope he gets in! Those are pretty good stats. I am worried myself, i have a 91.3 avg (all honors/ap/SUPA course). Spectacular extra curriculars and leadship position. (Ex. National Honor Society, Key club). Other than my sat, which is 1160:(, i feel very confident in getting accepted. My sat is my only worry but UB states they take a “holistic” approach, so im hoping i can get in
@heloudanny @2023collegemama don’t worry! Grades are a factor but Buffalo is holistic. Buffalo doesn’t want only people with high scores! They want a diverse group of people from every part of the spectrum.
My son’s application status is showing 4 green check marks and a red x for final hs transcript. I don’t remember if the red x was always there, and btw what does final hs transcript mean, its only december…
@biomedical2023 OMGGGGG they called youu!! That has got to be a good sign cuz they usually don’t call applicants to let them know things like that.
@nymom43 you can ignore that, it doesn’t effect whether he gets an admissions offer. They will need a final transcript but not until May/June (after graduation).
@lovepreett I called them yesterday to ask them a question about my major and the school and the called today answering the question and giving me an update.
I got accepted just a few mins ago!!!

But they didn’t state which major I got in…is there a way to find this out except receiving the acceptance letter in the mail? I checked my common app and I put both of my intended major and second major.
