@CalinAmry hey,
are you in state or outta state? If your instate, Buffalo would be a better choice since you would be saving a lot of money. What’s your major?
That would depend on where you live. If you are neither a resident of NY or Mass, then both would be expensive. If cost is not a factor then go with UMASS. If you live in NY state, SUNY Buffalo is a wise choice.
In state. My major atm is anthropology but I plan on charging it to biology.
NYS resident…Then it would be hard to beat SUNY Buffalo, unless UMASS gives you a wonderful Merit / Scholarship. You really cannot go wrong with SUNY Buffalo - it is a great University.
Has anyone here applied RD and heard back yet?
@LittleLiam We applied in early January, and heard back (accepted) fairly quickly, within 3-4 weeks. We are out of state, which I am sure helped since the volume of in state applicants must be very high at such a good price point.
Thanks. Could you possibly tell me what major you guys went for and what your stats were?
@littleliam I applied feb 1, got in today. 1460 sat 87 uw gpa. Psychology major.
@LittleLiam Applied Jan 7th, not sure when transcripts and such arrived. Accepted around end of January. Out of state. 3.6 GPA, 1300 SAT. Enrolled in AP, Honors and UCONN ECE classes. Environmental Science major.
Dd revisited U Buffalo today and it’s shot back to the top of her list. She’s already accepted but was feeling unsure. Anyone else have a kid going in for Exercise Science - DPT?
my son applied 1/15 but 2nd quarter transcripts didn’t get sent till about 10 days ago… no word yet. should we worry?
@downpourblue our dd was accepted into DPT program. Wondering what your d19 liked about UB that it shot back up on her list. Have not visited yet but DH and D19 probably will in April. She worries about size and dorming.
Anybody hear about financial aid and any merit awards? I thought they were supposed to be released in mid-February. OOS son already received the Provost Award but the portal is only showing the general COA financial estimates - nothing about a formal offer or proposed aid. We’re heading up there in mid March and it would be nice to have an idea.
I was wondering the same thing - when should we see financial aid awards in their portal?
I just emailed UB Financial Aid Office (ubfa@buffalo.edu) for some insight. Let’s see what they come back with for a date.
Just got accepted today for RD. Finished app Mid Feb.
Gpa : 3.4W (2.0 Fresh and Soph, 4.0 Junior and Senior)
ACT : 32
Major : Engineering
In-State
@downtoearth No, dont worry. I didn’t pay my applicafion fee until Feb 12 and just got my decision today. Your son will hopefully hear back this week. Gl
Congrats @littleliam! I am a little biased being a UB alumnus, but kudos to UB for churning out decisions quickly while maintaining a highly academic admitted class! Can’t say the same for some of the other schools my son applied and was admitted to. He and I will be visiting UB in a few weeks for his ‘make a final decision’ tour. He was also admitted to UB’s Engineering program. ??
Hey - I wanted to say that I second this. We had a mishap with our U Buffalo app. Our guidance department sent some of the stuff to Buffalo State (vs UB). This caused us to miss the 12/15 merit deadline. Once we realized this and re-sent everything, UB was fairly quick to come back with an acceptance. In addition, I reached out to admissions and spoke with someone - who has been extremely courteous, helpful and professional, and they are going to see what they can do about having DD considered for merit despite the mix up that caused us to be a few weeks late with the original application.
We have not yet been to UB - mainly because it’s far from us (7 hours), but we are likely going to add it to our list of places to visit (Apr 7 admitted students day perhaps, following the Apr 6 Binghamton admitted day). I have liked everything about the process/people we have worked with thus far.
I applied RD instate, hoping to hear soon, midterm grades were sent Beginning of February. Will I be hearing soon?
