@kae011 Well, sounds like the numbers are doable but a little low on the SAT side, especially if in-state. Their middle 50% is in the 1050 to 1260 range. Average GPA is 3.6. I’m sure you are a worthy candidate, hope it works out!
I applied back in September 19 I think, and I haven’t get anything from UB. I’m just waiting for UB so I can make my decision?UB is my Top choice…
anyone heard anything as of yesterday??? still waiting. I called admissions, and secretary looked up my son’s name and told me a decision hasn’t been made yet. and that we should receive a decision in the next week or two. seriously??? getting ready to take this school off our list. shouldn’t make kids wait this long!
my son’s stats are act 20, and gpa 3.66. lots of extra curriculars, art ap classes, ap psych.
what do you think?
and he’s majoring in graphic design
Did he apply to EOP?
@sallydo when did he submit his application?
My son also received a request for his grades and is still waiting. This was never a real contender for him but if he had gotten in he might have felt differently. My daughter had a friend last year who heard very late and was admitted for second semester (and we know several people who got this at Bing). Our friends moved their D into a campus apartment and she took the maximum amount of courses she could as a non matriculated student in the Fall. Just putting it out there so that people who are still waiting know this is a very real possibility.
No.
submitted through college app in december, and also did the onsite. admission officer said grades his grades were very good and consistent, but act score was low. so they wanted to see his mid year grades which are automatically sent through the school
I really want to go to UB ?
My daughter is in the same boat as many others who have posted for the last few days. She has not heard anything. We called today and were told they are still making decisions and we should hear if not next week then the week after. I am guessing they are waiting to see how many kids make decisions based on admitted students day this coming weekend. Very helpful to hear from MomOfTwo1YearApart that they might admit for second semester. My daughter has many other good options but would really like to hear from Buffalo, as it is the least expensive school that really appealed to her - the other SUNYs did not.
I should also mention that she called three weeks ago and was told she’d hear within 3 weeks. When I said that to the person who answered the phone today, they had me speak to another person, I guess someone with more seniority. That’s the one who said maybe next week, possibly the week after.
Best we can do is all post here when we hear anything so everyone else knows.
If my daughter does get in, April 20 admitted student day is not possible because we have guests coming for Easter. THat was an odd weekend for the school to pick because it is both easter and passover.
how does the dorm selection work? After reading an earlier post, it seems to be on a first come first serve basis, which obviously is a disadvantage for the students who haven’t been able to commit yet! Very frustrating…
@sallydo - this is what I understand about dorm selection: the date you pay the dorm deposit is how you get put in line for your dorm choice. After paying your deposit, you’ll get access to the dorm selections - you rank your dorm choices. Then they put kids in their dorm choices, starting with those who paid the deposit first, then on down the line. However, we went to an accepted student’s day here in our area last month and were able to speak with many staff from Buffalo. We were advised to keep asking for a dorm reassignment if my daughter did not get the room she wanted - as kids switch all the time up to move-in. So - get your deposit in ASAP, then see what happens and if it’s not what you want, ask for a change. You just might get it. Good luck!
I agree they’re waiting to see how many commit at admitted students day this weekend. My son applied in December. This is too long to make people wait, but when it’s one of your top choices it’s discouraging. 3.2 GPA/1130 SAT
Thank you for the dorm info. My son had mentioned that the freshman usually get housed in Ellicot. So if that’s the case, I guess our kids have a spot there. Now there’s the forced triple scenario I’ve heard about. That I can see happened to the late commits. I guess one thing at a time. Let’s get a accepted first!
yes, my son is very discouraged and anxious. He doesn’t want to wait another week for Buffalo, if its actually another week. I want to call again tomorrow, but I think the secretary is tired of hearing my voice!! He wants to commit to cortland tonight. He recieved an acceptance from Cortland first week in December. If i put down the deposit i assume i won’t get it back?
Awwww, I would persuade him to hold out. I’m a graduate of Buffalo and if he loves the school just have him wait a little longer. Cartland isn’t going anywhere.
They refuse to give me any sort of timeframe, but apparently gave other people estimates of a few weeks…guess it depends on the person but I’m really getting turned off. If I did all this waiting just to not be accepted I’ll probably end up at Oswego?
@sallydo I hope that isn’t the case … since we are a late decision for sure (with all of the student admitted days being in April, hard for people to commit before those).
I’m still struggling to figure out what to do about visits. We’ve never visited Buffalo, but we have a great offer from them (we are out of state, and 7 hours away). Currently there are two UB admitted student days:
Apr 7 (same day as our Umass visit day, which is the last Umass visit day we’re already registered for)
Apr 20 (our entire family is on vacation in Florida for spring break week from Apr 13-22)
I’m trying to figure out how and when we could get up there.
