I'm trying to decide between UB and Syracuse. I plan to major in aerospace and mechanical engineering.

Both are similar size, weather, etc. and should be similar fit. Buffalo is the better engineering school, and it’s half the price. It’s really no contest, unless you’re willing to pay an extra 100k for a better basketball team.

My son also applied to both UB and Syracuse (and many other schools as well.) Though Syracuse said they loved him and to expect a large merit scholarship, they only offered him 7K a year. Not much given the high tuition.

Son was accepted at all 15 schools he applied to. Really liked Syracuse, but also liked UB. He was very impressed with the engineering program and labs he saw at the engineering accepted students day and ultimately decided to go there. (Half tuition scholarship was a nice plus and made it so inexpensive.)

Son is a recent May 2013 grad with majors in Aerospace and Mechanical engineering. The Fall job fair is great and he obtained summer internships through this method. He also found places to apply for employment Fall of his senior year and had three job offers by the end of Fall semester.

He was involved in the Aerospace engineering club on campus. Did paid research as an undergrad for the engineering dept.

He and his engineering GF, also recent engineering grad, are both employed and doing well.

I highly recommend the program, and low cost in regard to so many other engineering schools. UB is highly regraded in all the STEM and health sciences.

Feel free to PM me for any questions you may have.

Is stem just for SUNY schools?

@fatheroffive, you dredged up a long closed thread and also, unfortunately posed a question that is less than clear. If you start a new thread with a broader subject line relating to the SUNY schools, you’ll get a better response. Good luck.
