University at buffalo Vs. University of Alabama at Birmingham

Hello !
I am an International student and I have just been accepted in to the UB Biomedical engineering program . I have also been Invited into the Honors college.
I Have a bit of a dilemma, as I have also been accepted into the University of Alabama at Birmingham for Bio medical engineering. So I dont know which one I should choose.

University at Buffalo
Pros : Honors program admission . ( This one of the major reasons why I chose to apply to
UB)
: Scholarship of about 6000$ . So the entire cost comes down to 25000$
: The University of Buffalo is ranked higher than UAB. Ub ranks at 111.

Cons : The Bio-med Engineering department is quite new, so I dont know how good it is.
: The Bio-med Engineering is not yet accredited by the ABET. ( I dont know if that makes a huge difference in the job market ) All the other engineering programs of UB are Accredited. Only the Bio-med isn't.

University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Pros : The university is known for its exceptional Biomedical Engineering program
: It gets a large number of grants and funding for medical sciences
: UAB has an accredition for bio-med Engineering.
: Its medical school is one of the best in the country

Cons : I didn't get into their Honors program
: No scholarship available. But then the entire cost again comes down to 25000$
: The overall ranking of the university is quite low . Its 143.
: There isn't much to do around the Birmingham city.

So please weigh in your opinions regarding this. I would really appreciate it .

Can you please help me out guys !

pm me with any questions you have about uab (or post here)… not absolutely positive but i think at one time they allowed later applications to sci/tech honors… after your first semester … clay walls scitech advisor should be able to let you know that answer. once you get past about the top 50 schools, i dont think 111 vs 143 are that significant.
looks like your costs will be about the same…have you visited either one?

Oh thanks a lot !
After a lot of pros and cons I decided on UB :)

If UB is not ABET don’t go there, when my husband graduated I remember jobs specifically looking at ABET accreditation as did graduate schools.
