University Billing Statement

It looks like it depends how you view your bills.

If you select "Billing and Payment" from the Current Students section, and sign in, you'll come upon multiple ways to view your current bills.

"View Options" has two ways, "View Your Statement", or "View Your Account Activity"
Selecting "FALL AUG 21 DUE SEPT 20" from the former will bring up

"Hsg Contract Charge-Pay in Full: $8211" with the amount under charges
and
"UG HOUSING E-CHECK PREPAYMENT: $500" with the amount under Payments/Credits
showing the "amount due" as the amount the housing contract shows us to expect for single or double initial payment, $7711 (under the annual plan).

Meanwhile, "View Your Account Activity" doesn't make as clear the deduction. $8211 is charged (under annual plan) for the "Hsg Contract Charge-Pay in Full". $500 is also indicated for the Housing PrePayment we already made, but isn't as clear as the earlier format that we're realy only paying the standard initial payment.

The third option, just to confuse even more, shown under "Payment options with E-Check" with the "Details" link, does the deduction of the $500 prepayment from "Hsg Contract Charge-Pay in Full" for us, indicating the amount we owe as $7700 (under the annual plan [where the $11 went, who knows...])

Basically, as said earlier, none of this indicates whether we have a Single, Double, or makeshift Triple yet (you can tell if you have a Ratesaver); the amount for the single won't be charged until the next payment (for monthly or quarterly) or in late october (for the annual plan)

EDIT: The $100 difference with "Education Fee" comes from this exact same issue of different formats shown. The 2nd "View Your Account Activity" option shows $1802 charged with $100 payment done from our SIR, while the 3rd "Details" option shows the deduction done for us at $1702.

^^ Now why his Education Fee is so low, I have no clue.

Time to dig more?

Maybe I need to be less educated than the rest of you?

Haha. Just kidding ^____________________^

I was just thinking that oddly enough Kenny =P Do you only have 3 classes this quarter, or are you Sophomore status?

I WAS Sophomore status before they stripped me of my 8 units for IB Global (I now have 44 units and barely qualify as a Freshman).

And I'm taking a full load (17 units enrolled, Freshman seminar waitlisted [18 total]).

It might have something to do with some $1000 scholarship I got from UCSD for research or something, though.

$343 difference in Education Fees. Had it been $333 it would have made sense with the scholarship. Although, don't they give you that cash afterward, and not built right in?

Do any of the payment views show you with Credit for $1000 already within your statements?

Not that I can see.

The scholarship was hosted by both UCSD and Bank of America or something, so I'm guessing the money goes straight to the school.

is any body else being charged $3,211.00 for the QTRLY PAY PLAN ROOM + DNG PLAN??

As explained, you're in one of the first two views of payment right now, which do not already show the deduction of the $500 prepayment (from back in June). You still fit into the $2711 standard fall quarter cost for a single, double, or makeshift triple.

Hey guys,

How come in Tritonlink under billing and payments I am told two different amounts. Both of which seem to be for housing. And when do we pay for tuition. Sorry if these questions are redundant.

Recent activity (as of Aug 29)

Total: $4,368.30 Details

Recent activity includes scholarships I believe.

i just sent the first of many tuition echecks to ucsd. it was pretty intense.

lol. you're funny vii.

The thing is, if you requested a double, they charge you for a double, and give you a daily credit of like $2.12 for every day you are in a rate saver, so there is no way to tell what you got until thursday. :(

KendallH - Slight difference, I believe.

You CAN tell if you're in a ratesaver; However, a UCSD Ratesaver and what UCSD is calling a "Plus 1" are not the same.

Here are the descriptions:

One thing to note, though - While Plus 1 states it has all the needed furnishings, it is believed the rooms only have 2 desks, while a Ratesaver has 3. Also note that those in a Ratesaver get the Ratesaver fee, while those in a Plus 1 get the Double Fee. Those in a Plus 1 receive $2.12 a day back from the school, though, until they have been housed in a new, permanent room.

It is also interesting to note that even a Triple room is now classified on UCSDs webpage, made specifically for Muir's students.

I'm not sure what to make of these. I'm not sure if these were even around before this summer.

Basically, to end a long, useless rant, you can tell if you have a Ratesaver by checking your bill; you can't, however, tell if you have a Single, Double, Plus 1, or Triple, as all of them will be charged the same rate for the first bill.

More Information

on the billing statement, whats the "hsd contract charge pay in full" mean? what does that include besides dorm..cus it says its $8211.

So what part is the tuition? someone expalain to me please thanks

"Pay in Full" means that you chose the annual plan for your housing. It is showing $8211 currently as its not taking into regard the $500 you spent on your housing prepayment back in June. This is Room + Board, and Meal Plan.

Most of us are figuring Tuition is the Education Fee; either that, or its all the other costs on the bill combined exclusing the Student Health + Housing charges.
