University choice, how do I pick wich one to go to?

Hey! I am a secondary school (high school) senior in a pretty tricky situation. I’m from Sweden but i am writing here because i am sure that there are a lot of people here that have been in the same situation.

So basically I want to major in computer science and there’s 3 good schools for that in Sweden. The schools are: Royal institute of technology (KTH), Chalmers University of technology and Lund University (LTH).

I am sure that i can get admitted to all of them so it all comes down to where i want to study. School is free in Sweden.

KTH is probably the most well known school out of all of them. And i have read that it’s got a little bit better computer science program than the other two. But although school is free in Sweden this would be the most expensive choice as the living costs in Stockholm are very high. And student life is pretty much non existent at this school.

Then we have Chalmers University that is located in Gothenburg. It’s considered to be on the same level as KTH but it’s computer science program is not as good, there isn’t that big of a difference though. Gothenburg is cheaper than Stockholm but not much. And Chalmers does have a pretty active student life.

Lund University (LTH) is located in Lund. It’s a good school but Chalmers and KTH are considered to be better. Lund would be the cheapest city to live in and the school also have a very active student life.

I just can’t decide which one too pick as i like all of them. I am leaning towards Chalmers University as it’s the best of both worlds. I am also thinking about attending grad school in the US for a master’s degree after my bachelor’s, would my choice of school for my bachelor have an impact on how difficult it would be to get admitted to an MS program in the US?

If you were in a similar situation in America or anywhere else in the world please tell me how you made your choice.

I don’t think your choice of school will have an impact on how difficult it would be to get accepted at an MS program in USA so dont think about that.

I agree with this ^

Sounds like Chalmers is a happy medium.

I think you really just need to ask yourself what is important to you for four years of your life. I would personally rule out Lund because I would never sacrifice academics in favor of student life, but when dealing with Chalmers and KTD, I’d seriously try and find what you want out of college and worry less about impressing schools in the U.S. Who knows? Maybe KTD will have a more prevalent student life than you had originally anticipated or Chalmers may have more rigorous academics than you had thought either. Good luck with your search, and enjoy your lack of student debt
