University Choral Society

Did anyone audition for this or any of the other choirs offered through Penn's music department? If so, does anyone know what the auditions are like and what you must do? Thanks.

Choral Society accepts essentially everyone who auditions; University Choir is slightly more competitive but really not very difficult, so long as you can match pitch. Music department choirs are much less competitive than PAC affiliated singing groups.

Yeah, I auditioned and I’m in Uni Choir. Choral Society’s about 140ish people and the audition process was really simple. You say what groups you’re auditioning for on a form that you fill out and you audition for all of them in that time slot that you sing for the director. You just do scales so he can see your range and then you sight read a piece of music. It’s really pretty easy if you’re good at sight reading. Even if you’re not, then you’ll probably get into the Choral Society. Uni Choir’s a group of about 25ish people that can read/pick up the music faster than Choral Society since we have to learn twice as much repertoire.
