Just look for students' opinions on University City. Things you love about it. Things you hate. Or just general comments. Is University City the place to be?

Thanks,

You may as well ask for opinions on Philadelphia. We are within walking distance of the city (I’m looking at the skyline as I type this post from my room).
I personally love Philly. It’s incredibly cheap and easy to get around and has so many things going on every time of the year.
“University City,” the area around Penn’s campus, which is really just the eastern most part of West Philadelphia (the term only exists to try and get the area some separation from the West Philly stigma) is a nice place with plenty of food and entertainment options. But again, if you can’t find what you are looking for on campus, downtown is only a $2 journey on SEPTA.
The crime issue sucks, but Penn has a fantastic security department in place and you will find crime in any urban region in the country.

what are the nicer areas of philadelphia… u said west philly gets a bad name but i remember driving way east and it got really bad looking

“Way east” would be Society Hill, Old City, or maybe Northern Liberties. None of those are “really bad looking.” But if you overshot them and crossed a big blue bridge, you were in Camden, NJ, which certainly fits your description.

I’ve lived in University City since 1968. first in dorms and then in a series of apartments. Transit is terrific, food is varied and usually not expensive, entertainment and culture are convenient. Many of my neighbors also came for school and decided to stay.

I lived in Philly for my whole life and I can honestly say that University City is one of my most favorite places here. (maybe even top 1) It’s a beautiful campus, but it gets worse if you venture out of it. There’s so much life in UCity. The people are always friendly and it just looks very green and modern. Philly as a whole is a pretty great city… apart from some of the people. That’s a different story.

what consists of university city… does that include drexel and the sorrounding area
