***University Class of 2021 Discussion Thread***

Thought to start this a little early - for everyone that is wondering what stats you need for universities, or where you have currently applied! This is for both people who have applied to U.S./Canadian colleges as a Canadian student and U.S. students who have applied to Canada. This is both a discussion thread and for anyone that wants to post their stats so the rest of us can see what we are up against.

Thank you to @ViggyRam - I copied this from one of your posts, thank you :slight_smile:

Hi fellow Canadians :slight_smile: I haven’t really finished my application yet so I don’t think it would be of much help to anyone if I posted that (even retaking my SATs…) but I’m wondering where you guys are applying to?

I’m stuck between Penn ED and Yale SCEA… both wonderful places to study bio, both incredibly hard to get into.

Penn is definitely one of my top choices!! I’m looking to go into bio as well, taking the SAT for the first time next month :slight_smile: best of luck!

@ghvan99 December yay for SATS! But I’m still a junior so I have some time. Do you think you’re competitive?

I’m not sure. I’m in my senior year, and just saw my transcript for the first time, with my gpa. My 4-year gpa is 3.7, with freshman 3.67, soph 3.41 (ouch) and junior 4.00. I took 3 honours classes in my sophomore year, my lowest grade being from a pre-calc honours class that had a very low class average due to a poor teacher, resulting in the teacher being fired. Do you think my low sophomore year gpa will be a huge factor in admissions for American schools? I’m wondering because Canadian schools mostly only look at grades from junior year.

Without electives, my freshman gpa would be 4.00, making my overall 3.8 if that helps. I’d be hoping to apply to schools like Northwestern, Penn, Berkeley.

I had completely forgot about this thread but after early decisions are starting to come out we should bump it!

@goingsomewhereeh did you apply anywhere early decision?

Hey guys! A Canadian attending US prep school here…got deferred from Yale SCEA, applying to U of T and McGill

@BlingBlingBling that’s too bad, but you still have a shot right! And if it doesn’t work out I’m sure you’ll find where you’re meant to be… I’m also applying to U of T, are you applying to Trinity there?

@ghvan99

Yes I did! Pomona College Class of 2021 :slight_smile: Good luck to all you guys in the regular round! I’ll post my stats and stuff later…

@ghvan99 It’s been a long while. I’ll be attending U of T at Victoria College.
