Hey this year I am a sophomore at a highly ranked public high school. I am going to be taking classes at a local university (contemporary psychology and biology). I was wondering if next year it would be better to take level 200-300 classes in psychology or get into an internship at a hospital or college? By "better" I mean both in terms of what I will learn and how it will look on college applications.

first of all: just concentrate on your passion, not how it will look on college applications. Secondly: I believe an internship (if what you’re talking about is actually an internship and not just a volunteering position) is vastly better than classes. You learn so much more with the physical experience an internship provides. it will look better on college applications as well, but remember not to make that your priority.

My interest and passion is definitely my top priority, but i posted this question because I just couldn’t decide what I wanted to do more. Classes at University would be really interesting because I would take psychology (not offered at my school) and I would be able to see what it is like at college. An internship would be sweet because of the experience I would get like you said. I decided that I would apply for dual-enroll (contemporary psychology, biology) and also volunteer at a hospital this summer in the ICU, then next summer I am going to try and either get in an internship there, or a research project at the college. Thanks a lot for your info though Looking forward to it all!
